Long read *The Wild Ride of My ISB Interview: A Lesson in Handling Yorker* Applying for an MBA can be daunting, especially when you're balancing a demanding full-time job along with the pressures of entrance exams. Most students pour all of their energy into cracking the exam, but here's the catch: the real challenge starts after that. The MBA interview? It's like a job interview, but more intense. You get one shot to prove your worth. Nail the exam, craft perfect essays, and then ace the interview. And after that? Well, you hope the stars align. My ISB interview was a classic example of how things can take a wild turn. I had already secured admission to one of the top B-school, so I felt confident. I was prepared for my 9:00 AM Zoom interview. But as luck would have it, things didn’t go according to plan. At 8:58 AM, just as I was about to join, Zoom crashed. Absolute panic set in. By 9:07 AM, I had emailed the SPOC, restarted my laptop, and even reinstalled Zoom. Nothing worked. Looking back, I honestly don’t know how I kept my cool. By 9:10 AM, I got a frantic call from the SPOC, saying the panel was waiting. In a last-ditch effort, I tried joining via phone, fully expecting it to fail. But somehow, it worked. I finally joined—half embarrassed, half bewildered-with my video on. To make things worse, I realized the panelists, both ISB alums, were in the US. They had been waiting for me at an odd hour for ten minutes. Not the best way to kick off an interview! I kicked things off with, “I apologize, my Zoom wasn’t working…” only to be met with a chuckle and, “Did you ever imagine that’s how your ISB interview would start?” Here’s what I’ve learned from all my past stumbles: when things go off the rails, the only option is to stay calm and keep pushing forward. So, I took a deep breath, focused on what I could control, and gave it everything I had. To my surprise, I got in. I like to think it was a bit of luck, but mostly the lessons from all my past failures that showed me how to keep my cool when it counted. So why am I sharing this? Because I know many MBA applicants are in the same boat right now. I did not clear every interview I gave, but I improved with each of them and cleared the last two, ISB was the last one and probably the one that mattered the most. Failure, as painful as it feels in the moment, is often the stepping stone to success. If you're going through the grind right now, just remember: you’re not alone. Every setback is a stepping stone. These factors could have influenced Amazon's renewed interest in MX Player. But what does Amazon know that others don't? This acquisition goes deeper than just content. Amazon seems to be cracking the code on commerce advertising, the holy grail of digital marketing. Normally, there are two types of digital ads: performance and brand. Performance ads lack user quality, while brand ads struggle with measurable action. Commerce advertising bridges this gap, allowing users to buy directly within the app, and Amazon profits from conversions. Instagram's success with commerce advertising proves the power of starting as a content app that attracts brands to create content alongside users.
