    My thesis focusses on study of defect-induced electronic inhomogeneities on graphite and graphene surfaces using STM/S. In particular on graphite surface, we have found that various electronic patterns arise on the graphite surfaces due to small- and large-scale defects.     Thesis title: Scanning Tunneling Microscopy and Spectroscopy (STM/S) Studies of Graphite and Graphene.
    My thesis focusses on study of defect-induced electronic inhomogeneities on graphite and graphene surfaces using STM/S. In particular on graphite surface, we have found that various electronic patterns arise on the graphite surfaces due to small- and large-scale defects. Thesis also describes investigation of electronic inhomogeneity in single layer graphene (SLG) and bilayer graphene (BLG) by studying gate-voltage (Vg) dependent transport and STM/S. The bulk transport shows the effects of charge inhomogeneity in the BLG. From the STM/S studies, we find the local spectra to be identical everywhere except for a shift in the overall spectra, implying a variation in local Fermi energy. Our work on SLG also shows charge inhomogeneity as confirmed by unusual local tunnel spectra with two minima, which move in opposite direction along the bias-axis with increasing Vg.

    Carried out DFTB calculations on stability of water molecules inside single wall carbon nanotube in 3 months summer project with Prof. R. Prasad.
    Experimental project on design and fabrication Scanning Tunneling Microscope (STM). Fabricated STM capable of atomic topography on variety of surfaces at room temperature.

    Led the wining team for Tata Innovista Award 2015 in "The Leading Edge - Proven Technology" category for project on "Graphene from natural source''. Award given by Mr Cyrus Mistry, Chairman Tata Sons on 24th April 2015. The 2015 edition of Tata Innovista received over 2,700 entries by different Tata Group companies from across the globe.

    Led the wining team for Tata Innovista Award 2015 (Regional Round) in the "Promising Innovation" category for project on "Fret Free Transportation of Steel Coils''. Award given by Mr T. V. Narendran, Managing Director, Tata Steel on 12th March 2015. Award was appreciation for solving a decades old burning issue of fretting corrosion in road transportation of steel coil (patent granted).
