IRDAI has been continuously trying to solve for Health Insurance penetration in India. Earlier Bima Sugam platform (one stop ecommerce like platform for insurance) was approved and now approval of some much needed reforms to ensure financial burden reduction for citizens. I believe another major reform that is pending is raising AWARENESS about insurance to all levels of society. Even if no. of insurances are being sponsored by Government, yet people are not taking the benefits as many people don't know about it or the importance of it. IRDAI has to bring in regulation regarding increasing awareness and importance about insurance. (May be by incentivization or by any another program deemed fit). Exciting Growth Ahead for the Indian Health Insurance Sector! GlobalData forecasts robust expansion for India’s health insurance industry, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 12.8% from ₹1.3 trillion (US$15.1 billion) in 2024 to ₹2.0 trillion (US$23.8 billion) by 2028. The sector has seen significant growth, with its share in the insurance industry rising from 6.9% in 2019 to 9.5% in 2023, and it is projected to reach 11.0% by 2028. Factors driving this growth include regulatory advancements, high medical inflation, increased healthcare awareness, and digitalisation. Notably, the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) has removed the age cap for purchasing health insurance, effective April 1, 2024, and prohibited insurers from denying policies to individuals with severe medical conditions. These measures are set to enhance insurance accessibility and further drive market growth. With the rise of digitalisation and AI/ML technologies, insurers are now able to offer more personalized and efficient services. This trend, coupled with favourable regulatory reforms, will bolster health insurance penetration in India, which currently stands at just 0.35%. **Beware of Bajaj Finserv Health EMR Subscription: A Cautionary Tale** I want to share a troubling experience with Bajaj Finserv Health regarding their EMR software subscription. Their sales executive, who called himself a Relationship Manager (RM), was extremely persistent, calling up to 10 times a day to follow up on the sales subscription. After agreeing to purchase and providing specific requirements, I made an online payment. However, it's now been over a month, and neither the RM is picking up calls nor is Bajaj Finserv Health's customer care providing any support. When I reached out to customer care, they directed me back to the RM or asked me to email [email protected]. Unfortunately, my email to this address was blocked, with the message "Message blocked." This lack of post-sales support is deeply disappointing and concerning. I urge all healthcare practitioners to be cautious and think twice before subscribing to Bajaj Finserv Health's EMR software. Their after-sales service appears to be non-existent.
