Recently (and often), I participated in a meeting where the room was filled with seven men and just one woman—me. This scenario highlights a significant issue in the business world: the ongoing gender imbalance. As a Hindi proverb says, "जब तक चिड़िया घोंसला नहीं बनाती, तब तक जंगल में गूंज नहीं होती” This underscores the importance of women's participation in creating a balanced and thriving environment. While I’m grateful for the chance to contribute, this experience underscores the need for more women in leadership and decision-making roles. This move is more than a convenience; it symbolises the bridging of nations through technology. The launch of UPI at such a pivotal time underscores the importance of seamless, efficient payment systems for millions of travellers. As an Indian in Paris, you can now focus on enjoying the games and the sights without worrying about currency exchanges and transaction hassles. UPI’s journey since its inception in 2016 has been nothing short of remarkable. Reaching 14 billion transactions in June 2024 with a 49% year-on-year increase shows its massive impact. This growth highlights how powerful and reliable UPI is, making it a role model for other countries. Presenting the DE&I X Nature collaboration on World environment day THE UNFOLDING As human beings, apparently the smartest living beings we define roles for everything around us. A man is supposed to be the breadwinner and chief provider of the family, a woman is supposed to be the caretaker and treasurer of the family, a girl is supposed to help the mother in household chores while a boy is usually assigned heavy work in the house and so on. The urge doesn’t stop here, we do not even leave assigning roles to non-living things that we think we own. Does nature do the same thing? On this world environment day, we should take a moment and think about the lesson that you can take from this lovely collaboration, DE&I X Nature. Nature does not box anyone based on their ethnicity, creed, or background. It accepts everyone with open arms as they are. In return, it only expects everyone to take care of it irrespective of who they are. What is so inept about is that we are not able to honour that code? Why do we have the urge to box someone and consider those as mavericks who do not fit in any of the roles according to us? Try to embrace everyone as they are and see how everyone blooms like a flower; unfolding its own beauty making the world a wonderful place to live. Variation, in other words, is key for life. Variation and diversity are not merely coincidental but fundamental to life. Nature has clear lessons to offer. Yes, indeed there is an unparalleled "Strength in Diversity".
