Maximum #governance, minimum #government is a catchy slogan. But what is the reality if one looks at the proliferation of districts? Districts in #India are administrative units for effective governance. They are headed by a DISTRICT MAGISTRATE/COLLECTOR/DEPUTY COMMISSIONER, all names for the same position of the district head who works as the “eyes and ears” of the government and performs the key function of maintaining law and order, land revenue administration and coordinating all development activities in the district. The creation of new districts has been an all pervasive phenomenon since independence, influenced by popular demand due to a variety of factors, mostly political. Import of Inputs for Export Products under Quality Control Orders (QCOs): Important Information for Advance Authorization Holders, EOUs, and SEZs This public notice, issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, clarifies the import of inputs subjected to mandatory Quality Control Orders (QCOs) by entities involved in exports. What's New? The Ministry of Mines has been added to the list of government bodies under Appendix 2Y of the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP), 2023. This means that Advance Authorization holders, Export Oriented Units (EOUs), and Special Economic Zones (SEZs) can now import inputs for export production that are subject to mandatory QCOs issued by the Ministry of Mines. Previously Exempted Ministries/Departments Appendix 2Y already exempted QCOs from the following departments for import of inputs used in manufacturing export products: 1. Ministry of Steel 2. Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) 3.
