They’ve also cleverly used Orry’s influence to amplify the conversation through PR buzz, leveraging his social pull to spread the message. These ads brilliantly tap into the 𝐔𝐧𝐬𝐚𝐢𝐝 𝐍𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐬 of today’s moviegoers: ➡️ The desire to be the first to watch and have an opinion on the film, avoiding that dreaded FOMO. ➡️ The uninterrupted, focused movie-watching experience, something you can’t get at home where you're constantly pausing for household chores. ➡️ The holistic cinema experience: from the food, seating, and ambiance to the overall feel of watching a film on the big screen – something OTT platforms can’t replicate. 🍿🎬 While the messaging is timely and well-targeted to reignite interest in cinemas, the question remains: 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐢𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤? Can PVR’s current challenges be addressed by communication alone? If we look through the Kano Model, the points these ads hit — the premium experience, the social element, and the thrill of exclusivity (FOMO) — fall under 𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐫𝐬. However, post-COVID, certain factors have now become 𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐜 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐬 due to the rise of OTT platforms. These include the absence of ticket costs, minimal food expenses, the ability to stop watching if the movie is bad, and avoiding the time and hassle of travel to a cinema. The real challenge for PVR is balancing these with reminding audiences of the unique, holistic movie experience. Paytm has announced it will sell its entertainment ticketing business to Zomato for an impressive Rs 2,048 crore.
