Content teams would do well to remember what an advertising veteran famously said, "People don't read ads. They read what interests them. Sometimes it's an ad." In a world full of choices, why should someone read/ watch/ experience what you have created? What is your right to win? That is where engagement comes in. Starting with simple formatting level ideas that aid readability and skimming, one can move to more advanced and nuanced ideas like embedding videos, carousels, and such media. But if skills and budgets permit, one should not stop there. Consider adding interactive elements like quizzes and "check your knowledge" type educative add-ons. Everybody loves a challenge.

This is perhaps the most important aspect of repurposing that content creators often overlook. Yes, repurposing is great and helps you get stuff done faster but overlooking the platform nuances can make your content fall flat. The format (text/ visual/ video), the tone of voice (formal/ fast/ fun), and even the post schedule should be influenced by the platform. Moreover, one should resist the temptation to post repurposed content just because it ticks a box in your content calendar. Ask yourself - does this fit into my brand's purpose? Does it strengthen its positioning? In the offline world, I have been companies repurpose investors briefing call into a tall hall presentation - that's so boring.

Handling unexpected revisions from clients when time is running out can be challenging, but it’s a situation I encounter frequently. Here’s my approach: First, I make sure to clarify the final deadline and ask the client how much extra time we actually have. This helps to focus everyone on the urgency and manage the situation better. Next, I learn from the experience by having an open conversation with the client about their approval process. I ask how it works and how many levels of approval are involved. Finally, I take the opportunity to educate the client on giving feedback effectively. I explain the importance of validating the biggest ideas first, like the overall visual treatment, before focusing on details such as font size.

One effective way to convey a creative concept to a graphic designer is by creating a manual sketch. I do this by starting with simple pen and paper to draft rough sketches of my vision. This helps illustrate how I want the content to be placed and where specific elements should go. I usually include notes to clarify details like logo placement and overall style. I also make it a point to communicate the project's purpose and audience, as this context aids the designer in aligning their work with the client's vision. Providing examples or references of similar designs or digging into the client's brand guidelines together can also help ensure that your ideas are clearly understood and accurately executed.

Working together works. Step one is to be clear that the client (all their stakeholders) as well as your teams are working towards a common goal - that is to ensure that the project moves ahead and achieves the desired business outcomes. Doubting any party's intentions does not help. Reviewing proposals together has helped me and my team close deals faster. The process to do this involves setting up a mutually conducive time, being clear about the agenda, and scheduling a face-to-face meeting (ideally). Special tip: Well before the meeting day, share the proposal document with the client in an editable format. Encourage them to add comments and recommendations. Till about a decade into my current role, I used to open my laptop and dive into my inbox, using it as a to-do list. But then I came across a modified version of the Eisenhower matrix. Here, I track my activities (and time taken) for an entire week and then distribute them into four quadrants. The tags are self-explanatory: - High Priority Activities - Low Priority Activities - Crisis Activities and - Trivial Activities Doing this exercise reveals some interesting information about how you are spending your time. I've often been surprised with how little time I was really spending on things that mattered more (HPA), vs things I could delegate (LPA). I also identified tasks I should totally avoid (Trivial).
