Thank you a Singapore for the opportunity to share WWF's priorities for climate and sustainability. Singapore has an immense potential to be a role model for rolling out new initiatives such as transition finance (investments aimed at helping to decarbonise high-emitting and hard-to-abate industries such as steel, aviation, and shipping) and financing mechanisms for nature-based solutions. In an ideal world, governments, businesses, and organisations like WWF-Singapore can work together to forge a mix of incentives and disincentives that nudge everyone towards a net zero future. Given that Singapore is home to thousands of MNCs, it can actualise a science-based approach that de-risks and decarbonises supply chains and bank portfolios. #netzero #naturepositive #sustainablefinance #greenfinance #climate #nature

This opinion piece tells it like it is. Conservation NPOs should be valued for what their purpose is - to protect the planet (the planet can't pay them except in dopamine - the fuzzy feel-good hormone for doing something hard that brings meaning to one's life).It's essentially the same thing mothers do for their children, without monetized remuneration (money can't buy life). When funders want NPOs to make money off earth's services, we're in danger of pushing too hard to fit the ecological time frame into human time frames. Whoever has physically worked with nature to restore a human-stuffed up landscape will understand. NPOs don't want to make false promises about the pace of progress to funders but funders should understand that conservation takes time and nurturing and just when you think you are getting it right, some human lets a cow onto the site and you are back 1000 steps. So much is out of our control; we need to be doing it slowly and carefully and not rushing to keep credits rolling or philanthropists happy. The profits should be invested back into the service-generating mechanism, i.e. earth. #HardTruths

 .. In India, the heritage tourism sector is thriving. The country has 42 world heritage properties, including cultural and natural sites. The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) protects 3,687 national monuments. Revenue from ticketed ASI monuments increased significantly from INR 101.5 crore in 2021-2022 to INR 252.85 crore in 2022-2023. Digital engagement has also grown, with virtual tours available for popular sites like the Taj Mahal and Qutub Minar. Agra and Delhi saw the highest tourist footfalls. The heritage tourism sector, a significant contributor to job creation and economic growth, is undergoing a transformative phase.
