Cotton picking has always been a difficult and labor intensive. Specially in India , although where western cotton picking machine are available they are highly impractical and expensive for our indian farms.
Cotton picking mechanism was designed for Green Robo Machinery pvt ltd, an agro robotics company . The objective of the work was to design a steel rope measuring device for Asahi Ropes pvt ltd.
Steel ropes are expensive and measuring steel ropes for buyouts is a critical task.Prior human would be used to measure steel ropes through measuring tapes, this was highly labour intensive,expensive and cumbersome for the workshop.
Steel rope are made with continuous application of grease which makes the handling during measuring even more difficult.

A device was designed that allows steel ropes to pass between two steel rollers.The pressure subjected upon the steel rope was maintained using a compression spring assembly.An digital encoder is provided that deciphers the length of the rope passing with respect to the rotation of the rollers.
