"The dynamics within India’s healthcare startup sector have seen a significant transformation, especially during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. Supported by bullish markets, 2020 and 2021 witnessed a surge in the number of healthcare startups. As a result, some startups achieved unicorn status. Post 2022, this changed, and the private markets have reverted to pre-pandemic levels. The shift has affected most sectors, not only healthcare. The number of new unicorns across all sectors in India was down from 44 in 2021 and 21 in 2022 to just two in 2023. This decrease in funding suggests a cooling period — a much-needed market correction or a phase of strategic recalibration encouraging founders to build more financially sustainable businesses," he noted. Mumbai-based health-tech startup Alyve Health has secured a Series A funding of $5.5 million. The funding was led by Axilor Ventures and saw participation from existing investor 1Crowd Fund and InHealth Ventures. The company also raised venture debt fund from Trifecta Capital as part of this round. The company plans to use the funding to acquire talent; enhance its platform, services and engagement with members; and expand operations. Founded by Shashank Avadhani, Sushant Roy, and Vineet Mehta in May 2020, Alyve Health strives to provide comprehensive healthcare services to individuals, employers, and businesses. Its services include doctor consultation, medicine purchase, diagnostics, gym membership, dental procedures, and proactive well-being.
