The Wadhwani Institute for Artificial Intelligence (Wadhwani AI) is an independent nonprofit institute founded by the Indian-American tech entrepreneurs Romesh and Sunil Wadhwani. We aim to harness the power of AI to find the break points that cause the world’s deepest problems — and then find innovative solutions to fix them. We specialize in AI research to address problems in public health, agriculture, education and infrastructure using tools such as Machine Learning, Data Science, Cognitive Reasoning and IoT. We are a global AI hub with ongoing collaborations with leading academic organisations, global nonprofits, think tanks and other private foundations who are interested in leveraging AI as a force for social good. Stressing the importance of adopting AI solutions within underserved communities, Nakul Jain—Director of Products and Programs—contributed to a compelling session on “Technologies for Health Impact at Scale” at ACM COMPASS. “The first step to adoption is to understand and acknowledge the challenges. The next is to join hands and work together towards solving them,” he explained during his lightning talk at the event. ACM Compass brought together experts and researchers, kicking off deliberations on sustainable technologies and practices.
