Delighted to share this report ‘Articulating Crisis and creating Radical Alternatives’ for Global Tapestry of Alternatives co-authored with Vasna Ramasar. It details the processes of bringing the voices from the global south/ majority world together in both conceptualising the polycrisis and responding to it-an effort to co-develop an inclusive and dynamic knowledge and praxis of nurturing radical alternatives. If you are interested in polycrises, radical transformations, and praxis of how to do it, this report is for you. It is available in English and Spanish. Webinar on the report is coming soon :) Please reach out to us for any comments, reflections, and feedback. Please share it further among your networks. https://lnkd.in/d9upuEnt

We concluded the three-day long Facilitation Team meeting in Pune, where the group discussed the manifesto released by VS, general election results and Vikalp Sangam’s role in political context. The group also reflected upon the work Vikalp Sangam has been doing in India and it’s future vision. We experienced the spectrum of hearty laughter and intense fundamental discussions in this safe space with deep friendships. Ashish Kothari Shrishtee Bajpai The Timbaktu Collective Kalpavriksh

*Out Now* ‘The Great Nicobar Betrayal', an edited collection of short pieces by different writers, annexures and 12 colour plates on the mega infrastructure project being pushed in Great Nicobar. To order copies and for more details pls write to <[email protected]> Dreams of mega development herald disaster for a highly vulnerable island. Great Nicobar Island is the southernmost and largest landmass in the chain that makes up the Nicobar Islands in the Bay of Bengal. A ₹72,000 crore project that is planned for the development of this island will result in ultimately destroying both the island’s delicate rainforest ecosystem and its indigenous people. In The Great Nicobar Betrayal, Pankaj Sekhsaria, one of the best known chroniclers of contemporary issues in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, has compiled articles written by various experts across publications that examine the proposed project from every angle—environmental, geological, impact on local communities, law, due process, and ecology. These pieces together shed light on the magnitude of the disaster that will be unleashed on this pristine place if the project comes through. The book is a warning and a catalogueofthemanmade catastrophe that lurks on the horizon, one that will destroy more than the tsunami of December 2004 ever did.
