Angel Tax Abolished! Long-Term Capital Gains Tax Reduced! 🎉 I am thrilled to share that the Government has just presented the Union Budget and made some heartwarming announcements for startups. The angel tax (i.e., tax on startups raising capital at a premium) has finally been abolished. Additionally, the tax on long-term capital gains from the sale of startup shares has been effectively reduced by 8-9%, bringing it down to 12.5%. This long-awaited parity with listed shares has finally been achieved. We commend the Government of India for these startup-friendly measures and its unwavering support in propelling the Indian startup ecosystem forward. The long-awaited abolition of the angel tax (i.e., tax on startups raising capital at a premium) has finally become a reality. Moreover, the tax on long-term capital gains on unlisted securities has been reduced from 20% to 12.5%. This move achieves the much-anticipated parity with the tax rate on listed shares. We applaud the Government of India for these startup-friendly measures and its steadfast support in advancing the Indian startup ecosystem.
