Ripples of Impact: The Chronicle of WABAG's Century in Water. Chapter 06: Innovation and Expansion (WABAG's Journey Beyond Borders) In the early 1980s, WABAG began its important business in Algeria, focusing on industrial and municipal water treatment plants. In Germany, WABAG supplied equipment for wastewater treatment plants for flue gas desulphurisation in power stations. Intensive market development led to significant orders for water plants in Zaire (now the Republic of Congo). Patent applications were filed for the CARIX process and for backwashable filters. Additionally, WABAG supplied its first reverse osmosis systems for producing high-purity water for the microelectronics industry. In the late 1980s in Austria, the Austrian industry group SGP AG fully integrated its subsidiary, Overhoff GmbH, into its environmental technology division. Initial successful business activities with water and wastewater projects in China fostered a continuously positive development in water technology. The merger of SGP AG's Energy and Environmental Technology Division with VA Finalindustrie to create SGP VA, along with the expansion into new markets such as Iran, Egypt, and Syria, significantly contributed to the division's continued success. Under the leadership of Mr. Peter Misakyan, WABAG secured numerous contracts for drinking and wastewater treatment in China. #WasteWaterTreatmentEquipment #FlueGas #Desulfurization #German #Zaire #ReverseOsmosis #Africa #OverhoddGMBH #Austria #VAfinalindustrie #Iran #Egypt #Syria #China #SDG #Passioneering #Water #Sanitation #Sustainability #ESG #WABAG #VATECHWABAG #WABAG100

VA TECH WABAG LTD. Delighted to present a video case study of its Centralized Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) Plant, designed and executed for NMDC Steel Ltd. in Nagarnar. This advanced facility, with a capacity of 180 m³/h, leverages cutting-edge Ultrafiltration and Reverse Osmosis technologies to efficiently manage steel production effluents. The ZLD plant achieves an impressive 90% overall efficiency through a multi-stage process, ensuring wastewater-free production. By recycling and reusing treated effluent as makeup cooling water, a closed water circuit is created, aligning perfectly with sustainable development goals. The plant handles wastewater from 15 different sources, including high TDS streams, demonstrating its versatility and robustness. As one of the largest centralized ZLD facilities in the Indian Steel Industry, this project underscores WABAG's commitment to sustainability and innovation. #NMDC #ZeroLiquidDischarge #ZLD #WaterTreatment #Steelindustry #WaterIndustry #WaterSector #SDG #ESG #Water #Sanitation #Sustainability #Wabag100 #WABAG #Passioneering

Ripples of Impact: The Chronicle of WABAG's Century in Water. Chapter 05: Partnering for Progress (Deutsche Babcock Joins Forces with WABAG) In the early 1970s, WABAG's workforce in Kulmbach grew to a total of 350 employees. During this period, the company expanded its activities abroad, including in Burma and the Far East, and commenced the development of flue gas desulphurization treatment facilities in response to the demands of energy providers. Large-scale projects were undertaken in Karachi, Pakistan in the mid-1970s. WABAG became a major supplier of drinking water treatment facilities under the leadership of CEO Mr. Werkmann, also taking on projects in Algeria, Turkey, and Iran. With the entry of Deutsche Babcock in Oberhausen (an important German industry group) as a shareholder in 1973, the "years in the Babcock Group" began. By the late 1970s, WABAG had evolved into a significant provider for the planning, delivery, and implementation of facilities in the fields of drinking water, pool water, and demineralisation plants in Germany, Europe, and worldwide. #DesalinationPlant #DesulphurizationTreatment #DrinkingWaterTreatment #DeutscheBabcock #SDG #Passioneering #Water #Sanitation #Sustainability #ESG #WABAG #VATECHWABAG #WABAG100 #Kulmbach #Burma #Algeria #Turkey #Iran

Ripples of Impact: The Chronicle of WABAG's Century in Water. Chapter 04 : Consolidation and Export (A decade of Monopoly) In the 1960s, WABAG's successful growth trajectory continued, and in 1964, the company celebrated its 40th anniversary. By 1964, most major cities in Germany and renowned companies were already customers of WABAG, which designed and constructed approximately 95% of dam water treatment facilities, establishing a near-monopoly position. Both larger and smaller municipalities and businesses were among their clients. The name WABAG was not only well-known in Germany but also globally, due to their projects in Europe and the Middle East. In 1963, Wolfgang Kretzschmar took over the business following the sudden death of his father, Alfred Kretzschmar, at a time when WABAG had around 200 employees and an annual revenue of approximately 20 million euros. WABAG executed projects like the sintered water treatment for steelworks in Rourkela, India, and wastewater treatment facilities for BASF. Their wealth of experience from overcoming challenges formed the basis for innovations during this period. #RipplesOfImpact #Europe #MiddleEast #BASF #Rourkela #Germany #SDG #Passioneering #Water #Sanitation #Sustainability #ESG #WABAG #VATECHWABAG #WABAG100
