In the last 2 months we have had several leadership teams reflect on what brings them "joy" in addition to achievements and creating significant milestones and setting legacy. "What do you mean by 'joy'?" they all ask. So we stop and try and get them to pause and reflect on it. Moments of creating wow for customers is an easy answer.. The harder question is what gives you joy when you work with your team, or a moment in a meeting when you were filled with exuberance at a certain moment or travelling to a place that made you feel happy and light for no reason? I feel joy when people are beaming and laughing during a workshop. Or when people spontaneously hug someone when they share something challenging from their lives. Or when a team trying to crack a problem finds the answer or when people enjoy togetherness. Or when someone responds to a question (one asks) with a response far better than we had imagined. What brings you joy at work?
