At Eastern Public School, we were deeply touched to receive a heartfelt "Thank You" card from a little student, appreciating our efforts. Bhopal gets a solution for textile waste management! We're thrilled to announce that CAIF has joined forces with The Kabadiwala to revolutionize Bhopal's waste management system. Through CAIF's flagship "Closing the Loop" program, the city is now equipped to sustainably manage its textile waste and unlock green jobs for the waste workers community. Under the program, The Kababiwala aims to divert about 350 tons of textile waste from landfills and positively impact livelihoods of about 480 waste workers by building their capacities for managing textile waste. As clothing waste becomes a growing concern, Anurag Asati, founder of The Kabadiwala, shares, "Over the past few years, we’ve seen a surge in requests from our app users to collect old clothes along with other scrap materials. The municipality even approached us about the increasing textile waste in landfills. But we faced challenges in starting an old clothes collection." With CAIF's partnership, The Kabadiwala is now poised to tackle this challenge head-on. Powered by a tech-savvy platform and a loyal community of 60,000 users in Bhopal, we’re set to make circularity in textiles a reality. On #IndependenceDay, The Kabadiwala organized a used beverage carton recycling awareness campaign in golden city, Bhopal. Our team connected with residents to highlight how recycling everyday items like milk, juice, and soft drink cartons can help reduce landfill pollution. With The Kabadiwala app, you can easily sell hese collected cartons along with other scrap materials. By doing so, we’re not just recycling materials; we’re reshaping our future. The Kabadiwala, in collaboration with Tetra Pak India, is taking significant steps to divert used beverage cartons (UBC) from landfills to recycling in Lucknow, Bhopal, Nagpur, Raipur, and Gorakhpur. UBCs can be transformed into various products like tables, chairs, birdhouses, and pen stands. The goal is to close the loop and recycle these cartons. Apart from organising IEC activities in schools and institutions, The Kabadiwala is also placing posters in areas where small scrap dealers and #wastepickers work so that they can also start collecting UBCs while increasing their daily earnings. The #Mera_Carton_Meri_Zimedari campaign highlights the power of community involvement in creating sustainable change and protecting our natural resources.
