A couple of years ago, I had put up a comic about Appraisals. It was a visual representation of the metaphorical ‘buttering your boss’ to get a great rating. Like everything I put up on Corporat Comics, it was a satire on the practice of flattering your way into a good appraisal. Little did I know that the good folks at LinkedIn and The New Thing would want to bring it to life in the form of an actual butter. It is definitely one of the coolest collabs I’ve ever done. Who did we make this product for, you ask? No one! Yup. Who goes to such lengths to create a product - down to the actual butter, the packaging and whatnot - for no one? That’s exactly the idea. We created it so that no one ever has to use it. To drive the conversation about objective appraisals. For why should appraisals be based on anything else but performance? What do YOU think?
