Day 1 Recap: SEWA Delhi's First Exhibition Launch. It was a momentous day for SEWA Delhi as we launched our first-ever exhibition. We are immensely grateful for the unwavering support and trust of our parent organization, SEWA Bharat, which has continually guided us toward growth and success. Every day, we strive to uphold the trust they have placed in us as we work tirelessly to fulfill Ela Ben’s vision of full employment and self-reliance, advocating for the rights of informal women workers. With this same commitment, we aimed to present a visual representation of the conditions faced by these workers, bringing it to the heart of Delhi at Bikaner House. In our busy lives, we often overlook the women who make our lives easier by removing sacks of dust and waste from our homes, streets and "our" Landfills, forgetting that we owe a part of ourselves to society. On the first day, we were honored by the presence of the Deputy Ambassador Mr. Huib Mijnarends from the Netherlands Embassy in India, and Mr. Didier Vanderhasselt, The ambassador of Belgium. who addressed the audience and, most importantly, the women present. His words of encouragement reaffirmed our commitment to standing by their struggle. We would also like to express our heartfelt gratitude for the partnership and unwavering support from the Netherlands Embassy in India. Special thanks to Marisa Gerards, Joost van Oostenbruggen for encouraging us to imagine and create something as impactful as this exhibition. Your motivation and energy have been a guiding force for us. Additionally, we extend our deepest thanks to Shalini Sinha, Home-based worker sector specialist, WIEGO - Women in Informal Employment: Globalizing and Organizing, for guiding our curators, Anshu Jha, Laxmi Bohora, throughout the research process. Having you with us on the inaugural day was truly a pleasure. We also deeply appreciate Sanchita Mitra, National Coordinator, SEWA Bharat, who believed in us from the very beginning, when this idea was just a PowerPoint presentation. What she envisioned, even we could not fully grasp, but we are proud to have earned her trust. On International Workers' Day, we pay tribute to the legacy of Ela Bhatt who founded the Self Employed Women's Association SEWA Bharat - a trade union of self-employed women workers.
