Strengthening the #capacities of change agents and institutions to make a lasting #impact is our core #mission. We are thrilled to share our involvement in a five-day #training session in #Dakar. This #session, organized by the Agency for All Project, was a step towards enhancing the #skills of #research institutions from within the West African Francophone Region in financial management, grant management, and resource mobilization. As Agency for All' consortium partner, we designed the #Monitoring, #Evaluation, and #Learning (MEL) framework for this program, ensuring a robust structure for measuring #success and #impact. We look forward to more #opportunities to support capacity-building initiatives that enable informed #policymaking. Rajib Nandi | Apurva Kumar #agency #agency4all #localleadership
"Bul sa loxo ubbiku ndax nangu te téju ndax maye." Translation: “Do not let your hands be open to receive and closed to give.” (Wolof/English—Senegalese proverb) As part of the "Capacity Strengthening of Local Research Institutions to Accelerate the Partenariat de Ouagadougou Research Agenda" activity, Agency for All Project consortium partners EVIHDAF, Center on Gender Equity and Health at UC San Diego, Makerere University, Sambodhi Research and Communications Pvt. Ltd., and USAID were in Dakar, #Senegal last week, convening a five-day training on research-related financial management, grant management, and resource mobilization. This interactive training brought together a diverse group of participants from 10 research institutions from within the West African Francophone Region who exchanged insights and shared their experiences in planning and budgeting research activities. At the end of the training, the institutions were able to: 🔸 Understand the funding cycle and procedures of major research donors in the field of sexual and reproductive health (#SRH) and #familyplanning (FP), including grant preparation, submission, evaluation, and management. 🔸 Understand the principles, procedures, and tools of financial administrative grant management. 🔸 Identify and mobilize financial resources to support SRH/FP research activities, using resource mobilization strategies tailored to the specific needs of their institutions. 🔸 Develop competitive funding proposals, considering donor priorities and the requirements of calls for proposals. 🔸 Develop concrete action plans to implement the knowledge acquired in their day-to-day work at their research institutions. Stay tuned! We look forward to continuing conversations on emerging best practices for strengthening capacities of local research institutions and elevating their leadership in generating evidence to inform public policy in SRH and FP.
