ReNew honours Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophy of sustainability through its Young Climate Leadership program, inspiring passion and action among school students. Anchored in the belief that individual responsibility drives collective progress, the program complements Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), encouraging sustainable living, by promoting climate awareness in the youth of our country. Currently, over 9,000 students access the curriculum online, creating awareness across hundreds of schools in India, with the goal of empowering 100,000 young climate leaders by 2030. Today, as we mark this milestone, we also celebrate the first anniversary of the ReNew bench in Central Park, New York, dedicated to Gandhi ji’s teachings of minimalism and sustainable living. The bench stands as a symbol of India's deep-rooted sustainability ethos—a reminder that small acts can lead to profound change. The Consulate General of India, New York, ReNew and US-India Strategic Partnership Forum held a roundtable on ‘India-US Partnership on Technology and Finance for Climate Action’. The event saw the launch of the report ‘Strengthening India-US Relation on Climate Action’ by the roundtable host, Consul General of India in New York, binaya pradhan, and dignitaries, including former US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate, John Kerry; US Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources, Geoffrey Pyatt; Director of US Trade and Development Agency, Enoh T. Ebong; and ReNew Founder, Chairman and CEO Sumant Sinha. The closing remarks were delivered by Richard Verma, US Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources. Both India and the US remain committed to climate action. The focus of the partnership revolves around collaboration, research and development, deployment of renewables, and skilling. More cooperation is required for the development of infrastructure, technical capacities, and emerging technologies. With opportunities for employment growing rapidly, there is a need to expand on green skills—crucial for resetting economies, creating industries, and building a sustainable future. ReNew’s convenings, in partnership with likeminded institutions, have emerged as a cauldron for diverse stakeholders to come under one roof, exchange learnings, and advance relationships, enabling impact-oriented discussions. Over 2.3 billion people globally are still reliant on traditional methods of cooking—firewood and coal—that contribute significantly to indoor air pollution and have serious implications for health. Transitioning to cleaner cooking can improve health outcomes and environmental sustainability in rural India. ReNew has deployed 100,000 improved cookstoves (ICS) in India through “ReNew-Sakhi”, our flagship clean cooking program, to address this challenge. The ICS is helping improve the living conditions of families to foster a healthier future.
