This tweet by Sooraj Chandran reminded us of three observations made during our research for The State of Employee Benefits 2024. 📈 Companies in India have raised the bar with employee benefits — the median sum insured has increased to INR 5 lakh from INR 3 lakh, more companies are offering maternity benefits, and we've witnessed a 110% surge in companies buying insurance for the first time also invest in primary healthcare. 🌟 Employee size doesn't matter, intent does — the top 5%ile of companies offer the same type of benefits, irrespective of size. For example, a 10-people company provided the same quality of benefits as a global giant or Indian unicorn. 🦄 On that note, while global giants are bringing international benchmarks to the country, most of India's unicorns offer benefits that are at par with them. These companies are part of what we call the '2% Club', because their benefits budgets are around 2% of their total comp budget. In case you're curious, here's a non-exhaustive list of companies offering the best benefits in India: 💻 Rippling 💻 Postman 🛒 Meesho 🤝 The/Nudge Institute 📈 Groww 💳 Yubi 📈 Upstox 💻 HighRadius 🏢 WeWork India 💻 Chargebee 💻 Twilio ❤️ Tinder For detailed reading, check out The State of Employee Benefits 2024: plumhq.com/state-of-eb

In thirty minutes, Saurabh's going to be asking: 🔴 Dilip Kumar about the mistakes first-time founders typically make as they chase growth at all costs, 😶 Surbhi Jain about why your team pulling all-nighters all the time shouldn't be a matter of pride, and 🎖 Udayan Walvekar about what it takes to build a community around health at the workplace. [long-ish post] You will make many trade-offs in your career. How do you know if they're worth it? In the spirit of professional growth and greater salaries, we often forego health, time with family, and holidays. Through a complex web of denial and justifications, we conclude that the sacrifice is worth it – for some likely greater good. Most of these decisions are tied closely to our salaries, or in corporate-speak, the Cost to Company (CTC). Shreyas Achar believes career decisions should also consider the Cost to Individual (CTI). Sure, the money is good and the opportunity is great — but is the personal cost worth the results/satisfaction/growth you're getting out of it? For instance: 🤝 Is the job that pays 1.25x the other worth losing time with friends? Would you take it if it paid 3x? 🌃 Would you take a night shift if it came with the prospect of moving abroad in a few years? 💰 Is a job that gives you healthy food and gym benefits better than one that pays you more but expects you to work long hours? Of course, there's no right answer to these questions. But if you're facing competing offers, answering these questions might help you make a decision more aligned with your values. Read Shreyas' take here: https://lnkd.in/gnb5GUuv What's your take?
