If you want to explore, a startup is the best place for you! For me, working at MetaStart has never been less than riding a rollercoaster. If you're just starting your career and you're choosing a startup, specially the one in its early stages, it can be really challenging for you. Only people who can survive for a longer run at a startup are those who are ACTUALLY beneficial to the company at some point, and that's the only truth. It doesn't mean you need to overwork, but you are expected to take the ownership of your work. I've read somewhere, many founders prefer hiring folks with zero hard skills, rather than folks with zero soft skills. Why? Because hard skills can be taught, but soft skills stem from an innate passion. And let me tell you, if you're at the initial stages of your career, with zero confidence, a startup can be really transformative for you, only if you're passionate enough to learn and grow more than anything. For me, Metastart definitely is something which helped me figure out my goals. It has improved me in many ways I had never imagined back in college. It's been fun, stressful, scary, difficult, easy, hard all at the same time but a beautiful journey so far, definitely very adventurous. It made me come out of my comfort zone several times and pushed me to face my fears directly. When I started studying computer science, I never thought I'd end up as an HR head at a startup, and when I was interning, I had never imagined of becoming a Product Manager, handling a whole big project. But here I am, going with the flow. Being an HR was never a very difficult job for me. I wanted to challenge myself and do something which could help me grow more. And that's where my PM journey started. Let me tell you, IT WAS NOT EASY. Still not easy. I don't have an MBA degree yet or any PM experience. I knew nothing about Product management. All I have is this thing in me to be the best, my curiosity and best managers. I like to poke my nose everywhere and learn something new as much as I can (which I'm very proud of lol). Working as a PM at Metastart has kept me at nights sometimes because I was too afraid to mess up. I won't lie, I still get nervous about many things, but I know I'll eventually figure everything out. I HATE it when people think 'nah, she can't do it'. Tbh, it just triggers my self-respect, and that's what fuels my motivation to keep learning lol. But as I had mentioned, I really love how my manager and all my founders have been there for me and are always ready to help. If you have good mentors, tbh, things become easier. Only a few lucky people get good managers in their life, and I am happy to come across such great mentors early in my career. (I wanted to post this when I completed my 1 year at Metastart and now I'm already going to complete 2 years in a few months. Yes, Time Flies:) )
