LOHUM in a landmark JV with ReElement Technologies & American Metals LLC will establish the United States' first fully integrated critical minerals & battery lifecycle management facility with an initial investment of US$30 Million. The state-of-the-art 15.5 GWh facility will be located at the Marion Advanced Technology Center in Indiana. The facility will create 250 green jobs and produce enough battery-grade materials to power over 315,000 EVs annually. On this milestone, LOHUM Founder & CEO Rajat Verma expressed- "As LOHUM expands its presence in North America, we welcome this opportunity to partner with ReElement and American Metals, companies that share LOHUM's goals of 'making battery materials last forever'. We believe the joint venture will be instrumental in building resilient critical material supply chains in the U.S. that can sustain themselves through circularity. This is an inspiring development in U.S.-India technology collaboration through market entities." Read more on Yahoo! LOHUM
Renewable Energy Semiconductor Manufacturing
Li-ion battery manufacturer and battery materials (cobalt, lithium, etc.) recycler enabling a circular supply chain.
About us
LOHUM powers next-gen li-ion battery mobility & energy solutions, gives batteries multiple lives through reuse technology, and makes battery materials last forever through recycling. LOHUM creates enhanced customer value through 3 primary technologies: 1) Lithium-ion battery manufacturing: We design and manufacture advanced lithium-ion batteries through proprietary technology and fabrication techniques. 2) Battery reuse or 2nd life solutions for used batteries: We identify healthy batteries through our proprietary cell testing and then reuse those batteries in another application. 3) Battery material recycling to recover valuable materials upon end-of-life: For batteries that cannot be reused, we recycle them to recover value materials such as cobalt, lithium, nickel and graphite. If recycled properly, these materials can be used over and over again without any performance degradation.

LOHUM champions #Battery #CircularEconomy at Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay: We met professors and students at IIT Bombay to identify the scope of academic contributions in the field of battery and #CriticalMinerals circularity research. LOHUM's VP of R&D, Dr. Chidambaram Mandan delivered a seminar on 'Economical and Environmentally Friendly Recycling Methods with High Outputs - Green Recycling', where he expressed- "If academia can join hands with us, together we can push down the costs of manufacturing battery materials while simultaneously setting new records in purity as well as yield. That is one point where we can start collaborating; start discussing to begin with. All industries have strong R&D, but often the simulation part is missing. If we can start collaborating from that perspective to cover the theoretical aspects, that will have an immediate effect, and we'd be glad to take that up." Thanking IIT Bombay Research Hub for Green Energy and Sustainability (GESH IITB), Prof. Jayasree Biswas, Prof. Pankaj Jhunja, Dr. Kaushal Kumar Jha and Dr. Wazeem Nishad for organizing the seminar series. Looking forward to emerging industry-academia collaboration opportunities in the field. #EnergyTransition #IndiaInc #BatteryRecycling #ClosedLoop #IIT #IndustryAcademia

A global #MadeinIndia startup with IIT roots: At LOHUM, IITians from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur batches between 1979 to 2017 make up a notable percentage of our 600 strong workforce, positioned across a wide range of roles. LOHUM Founder & CEO Rajat Verma visited his #IIT roots and met familiar faces at the IITK Alumni Convention 2024: Rising Bharat, where the alumni discussed 'Sustainability and Innovation as a Driver for Value Generation'. Highlighting that US$ 10 trillion is expected to be invested to achieve our net zero goals by 2070, he expressed- "Today, LOHUM is at a cost structure where we are the only alternative to China globally, and we have barely scratched the surface. While we may be planning to grow 10-20x in the next 3 years, there’s still a lot of work to be done. We need to build a data infrastructure in the country to know how much waste there truly is. Without high-quality data, we will have a lot of false starts. But if we can size the problem well, we can truly unleash entrepreneurial energies. There is a potential to create a few hundred if not a thousand unicorns." Together, we look forward to making closed-loop economies a reality. Thanking Mr. Rohit Dhawan, Owner - Micro Power Systems, Secretary - IITK Alumni, Mr. Rohit Toshniwal CoFounder Sprih, Mr. Sharad Agarwal, Founder at Indian School of Development Management, Mr. PRAVEER AGRAWAL Executive Director Marketing (GAIL India Ltd.), Director (Central UP Gas Limited) & Vice President (GSASL), Mr. Vivek Bhagwat, Consultant at Arista Networks for the insightful discussion.
