Empowering Learning Through Inquiry in Mathematics! As a Mathematics facilitator, there’s nothing more rewarding than watching learners take charge of their own learning. Last week, I provided an opportunity for my Grade 10 Additional Mathematics learners at JBCN International School, Oshiwara to dive into challenging optimization problems in differentiation. Working in groups, the learners tackled complex problems from the textbook, discussing each solution and explaining their approach. It was inspiring to see their critical thinking and teamwork in action! I challenged them further by asking inquiry-based questions, encouraging them to explore different perspectives and push their understanding beyond the standard solution. The discussions that followed were a testament to the true learning that happened – seeing them apply concepts, question assumptions, and think creatively about mathematical solutions. Watching these young minds work through practical maximum and minimum problems in differentiation with such enthusiasm and resilience reaffirms why I love teaching.
