Forests🌳are vital to both people and the planet, offering a myriad of ecological, economic, social, and health benefits. They play a crucial role in ecosystem restoration, biodiversity conservation, and climate change mitigation, in addition to serving as renewable energy sources and carbon reservoirs. 🌿🌎 However, land use change, deforestation and unsustainable logging have exerted enormous pressure on forests, compromising their habitat value and threatening the future of both environment and communities. As we step into the month of International Day of Forests, let's commit ourselves to celebrating the essence of this year’s theme – Forest and Innovation. At Iora, our journey has been marked by a commitment to implement scientific and data-driven solutions for forest conservation and management. This month, get ready to join us as we share the latest advancements in forest conservation, initiate conversations about preserving our precious forests, talk to our team about what they love about forests, and invite you to join us on a virtual nature walk. Stay tuned for updates! Let's embrace and promote technological solutions that can help conserve our precious forests. #IntlForestDay #ForestProtection #Innovation #ForestsMatter #Forestsarelife #ForestConservation #ForestManagement #ClimateActionNow

#Insights from Panel Discussion: Landscape-Based Approaches in CSR & Sustainability for Better Impact! Moderated by Mr Swapan Mehra, Founder of Iora Ecological Solutions , the session explores how landscape-based strategies can create lasting impact. Mr Swapan Mehra emphasised that while technology can be a powerful enabler, it should not be the end goal, warning that ecosystem destruction can devastate entire communities. Ms Namita Dandekar, Chief Operating Officer, Raintree Foundation, added that no single stakeholder should dominate; a balanced ecosystem is crucial, as each landscape and its requirements are unique. Dr. Pratyush Kumar Panda, PhD emphasised the importance of climate action by ensuring that 30-40% of the budget is dedicated to addressing climate change. Meanwhile, Dr. Sarika Kulkarni highlighted that while destruction can happen quickly, the process of rejuvenation requires considerable time and effort. These insights underline the importance of a collaborative and context-driven approach to CSR and sustainability. As we celebrate the power of Maa Durga this festive season, let's not forget her majestic companion — the tiger the symbol of power and protection! 🐅 The tiger holds a revered place in our culture, symbolising power, protection, and balance. But today, these magnificent creatures face threats like habitat destruction, poaching, and human-wildlife conflict, putting their future at risk. By saving tigers, we not only preserve a cultural icon but also ensure balanced forests, preserve biodiversity, and even safeguard critical water sources. At IORA, we’re stepping up to the challenge. Through habitat restoration, advanced GIS technology, and partnerships with local communities, we are working to protect tiger landscapes and reconnect fragmented wildlife corridors. Our collaborative work with governments, communities, and conservation bodies helps reduce human-wildlife conflict and ensure a thriving ecosystem. This Durga Puja, it’s time to do more than celebrate; it’s time for each of us realise that our every action has an impact on wild habitats! Together, we can safeguard our national treasure by being more mindful of our consumption patterns, and help preserve India’s rich natural heritage, and ensure that the tiger’s roar continues to echo in our forests for generations to come. 🐾 #SaveTigers #DurgaPuja #TeamIORA #TigerConservation #ProtectWildlife #DurgaPuja

Our CEO, Mr Swapan Mehra, recently completed the 2024 YGL-led Learning Journey, “Entrepreneurial Leadership: Founding a VC-backed Startup", in partnership with Stanford Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (HAI) and INSEAD. Designed specifically for Young Global Leaders (YGLs), the program offered a transformative experience that focused on equipping participants with critical skills needed for entrepreneurial success. The journey took participants through every key phase of building a venture-backed startup—from crafting compelling pitches to securing funding, and ultimately launching and scaling a sustainable business. The program provided a collaborative environment where participants could learn from one another’s experiences, and fostered a space where the YGLs could take the lead in exchanging ideas, sharing expertise, and driving real-world impact together. The insights gained during the program will surely fuel the next steps in leadership and innovation, guiding Mr Swapan Mehra to continue driving impactful solutions in the entrepreneurial and environmental space. #Entrepreneurship #Leadership #YGL #Innovation #Startups #VC

Celebrating World Wildlife Week 2024, the Department of Forests and Wildlife, GNCTD organised a special nature walk to ignite curiosity and passion for wildlife among young minds. As part of these celebrations, #TeamIora’s Dr Irina Das Sarkar (PhD) was invited to lead a butterfly walk at the scenic Asola Bhati Wildlife Sanctuary on October 4th. Accompanied by fellow wildlife expert and enthusiast Jayaram Sheshathri, Irina guided over 50 school children, helping them identify the immense biodiversity around them and connect with nature through the wonders of butterflies. This immersive experience aimed to inspire a new generation of environmental stewards by fostering a deeper understanding of the natural world. The event wasn’t about spotting butterflies and admiring their beauty – it was about learning the critical role they play in our ecosystem as essential pollinators, supporting food security and the health of diverse landscapes 🌍 Want to know more about the role butterflies play in sustaining biodiversity? From penguins watching their icy habitats melting away to manatees navigating oceans tainted by plastic pollution to leopards needing to find food and shelter in urban sprawls, the challenges facing wildlife today are a stark reminder that we need to do better. This National Wildlife Week, with the theme of "Wildlife Conservation Through Coexistence." it is important to reflect on how our actions affect the myriad of creatures we share this planet with. These animals, wild and domesticated, big and small, all deserve safe and healthy habitats, just as much as we do. At Iora, a lot of our work focusses on fostering harmonious coexistence between humans and all living beings, whether it’s through restoration of degraded wildlife corridors or addressing human wildlife conflict or improving biodiversity around us, our aim always is to conserve and restore landscapes for all living beings. Often even small individual steps at our end can make a huge difference in an ecosystem. Plastic waste, for example, often ends up in the oceans, choking marine life and disturbing entire ecosystems is for all of us to see. Something as simple as reducing our plastic use and being mindful of waste disposal can make a profound difference to our landscapes. What else do you think each of us can do to help wild habitats thrive? Our everyday actions, big or small, can help ensure that animals thrive and that the world becomes a place where every species has a right to call it home. #Wildlifeweek #Conservation #WildlifeProtection #TheirHomeToo #SaveOurPlanet #TeamIORA
