With a growing #Elderly population in #Kenya, many families—especially women—are struggling with the immense burden of caregiving without sufficient resources. Xalco has risen to meet this challenge by training over 3,007 #caregivers, 94% of whom are women, and providing #HighQualityCare to more than 820 #households. Their innovative approach not only improves the lives of #elderly patients but also creates meaningful #EmploymentOpportunities for young #women in Kenya. Xalco's impact is profound, offering families the freedom to pursue their #Professional and #Personal goals while ensuring that their elderly loved ones receive the care they need. ATEC’s innovative approach, featuring #electric #induction #stoves and #biodigesters, is transforming lives by reducing household fuel costs, improving air quality, and freeing up valuable time for #women, who make up 80% of their customer base. With 14.8 million hours saved on cooking and fuel collection and over 48,000 tons of #greenhousegases reduced, ATEC is leading the charge in providing #affordable, #scalable #cleancooking #technology. Their model serves as a blueprint for scaling #cleanenergy solutions in low-income #communities #globally. By integrating technology with finance, ATEC is opening new possibilities for #decarbonizing the cooking process and improving household #health and #financialstability. At the "Room Discussion - Financing Solar for Communities" during the International Solar Festival, experts like Manish Chaurasia (Tata Capital Ltd - Cleantech Finance ), Raghav Handa (Strategic Business Development), Tanya Singhal (SolarArise India Projects Pvt Ltd), and Nikhil Jain (SELCO Foundation) highlighted the urgent need for innovative finance to scale solar in communities. While large-scale projects are gaining traction, smaller initiatives—especially for smallholder farmers—face financing challenges. Closing the $150 billion annual funding gap requires global support, blended finance, and policy alignment. Mainstreaming Digital Payment Solutions for Women-led businesses Intellecap partnered with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to explore the effectiveness of Mass Market Digital Transaction Products (MMTPs) and understand consumer behavior towards their usage. The research focused on assessing the value proposition of these digital payment products, uncovering why consumers adopt or reject them, and analyzing the performance of MMTPs in diverse geographies. The study delved into various customer segments, transaction failure rates, and key patterns driving usage or disengagement. A special focus was placed on understanding these dynamics through a gender lens, providing a holistic view of underserved customer groups.
