Infosys co-founder N.R. Narayana Murthy, who earlier advocated for a 70-hour work week, said India is far behind China in becoming the world leader or manufacturing hub. While speaking at the ELCIA Tech Summit 2024, Murthy said, “These (hub, global leader) are all big words that we shouldn’t use. China has already become the factory of the world. Around 90% of things in supermarkets and at-home depots in other countries are manufactured in China. They have 6 times the GDP of India. It is too audacious of us to say India will become the manufacturing hub." He said the government plays a big role in the success of manufacturing, and it will be very difficult for India to become a leader unless the public governance system is improved. #india #china #manufacturing #business #technology #Indianstartupnews

Mark Zuckerberg-led Meta and WhatsApp have not informed the government of any plans to shut down its services in India, I&B Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw told the Rajya Sabha on Friday. "Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has shared that WhatsApp or Meta has not informed the government about any such plans," Vaishnaw told the Rajya Sabha in a written reply. The reply comes after Congress member Vivek Tankha had asked whether WhatsApp was planning to shut its services in India due to the government's directives to share user details. In late April this year, WhatsApp warned the Delhi High Court that it would cease operations in India if required to compromise its encryption, stating this would violate user privacy. The company had challenged the newly amended IT Rules, contending that they violate the right to privacy and were unconstitutional. #whatsapp #bank #socialmedia #india #government #privacy #Indianstartupnews
