There are increasing levels of adoption by respective stakeholders across sectoral value chains to align with Sustainability Frameworks such as but not limited to Sustainable Development Goals among others. The report titled Building the Business Case for Sustainability by WBCSD – World Business Council for Sustainable Development in collaboration with KPMG provides a timely reminder that embarking upon the journey of sustainability is an enriching one. Today, lets deep dive into the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive. From a responsible sourcing perspective, such a Directive is important to take note of, especially for companies. This because the Directive establishes a corporate due diligence duty, which entails the following:   💡 Identifying and addressing potential and actual adverse human rights and environmental impacts in the company’s own operations, their subsidiaries and, where related to their value chain(s), those of their business partners.  💡 Obligation for large companies to adopt and put into effect, through best efforts, a transition plan for climate change mitigation aligned with the 2050 climate neutrality objective of the Paris Agreement as well as intermediate targets under the European Climate Law. Please find a snapshot of the work being undertaken by the Coalition for Responsible Sourcing & Trade of Commodities - FOLU India CREST partner IDH India in #textiles. The ESG framework is fast being adopted across sectoral value chains from #agriculture to #textiles. One way in which #ESG is being operationalised is via responsible sourcing. For example, in the agriculture sector, this can entail directly buying from producers or in other words, farmers upstream in the value chain, by stakeholders further downstream such as brands, Tier 1 suppliers among others. #responsiblesourcing #SDG12

Responsible sourcing of agricultural commodities by stakeholders in the agricultural value chain is increasingly being operationalised, following the selection of institutional level commitments. Approaches that are chosen to facilitate responsible sourcing include certification, traceability and transparency to name a few.
