We, at Factoryal are pleased to be long-term MOU partners with iHub - AWaDH @ IIT Ropar wherein we collaborate on various joint initiatives to support the innovation ecosystem across startups, investor community and industry. One of the ongoing programs has been planning and running an accelerator for them. 𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗦𝗔𝗣 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺: The AWaDH Sustainability Accelerator Program (ASAP) is a six-week capacity-building initiative organised by IIT Ropar Technology and Innovation Foundation (iHub - AWaDH @ IIT Ropar) in collaboration with seafund, Factoryal and HDFC Bank Parivartan. The program had garnered interest from over 110 startups, with 14 selected for extensive one-on-one mentoring from industry experts. The top 12 startups that complete the program will showcase their innovations at the ASAP Demo Day tomorrow. During this event, Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar and seafund will commit investments of up to ₹12 crore in the top 3-5 startups. 𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗜𝗜𝗧 𝗥𝗼𝗽𝗮𝗿 (𝗶𝗛𝘂𝗯 - 𝗔𝗪𝗮𝗗𝗛): iHub - AWaDH @ IIT Ropar - AWaDH (Agriculture and Water Technology Development Hub) at Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar is a Technology Innovation Hub established under the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NM-ICPS) by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), with a funding of ₹110 crore. It is supported by Startup India, DST, MeitY Startup Hub, and HDFC Bank Parivartan. Also as part of their skilling initiatives, over 3,225 individuals have been trained, resulting in the creation of more than 820 jobs. They have also conducted over 180 outreach activities, engaging more than 2,200 students in DeepTech domains and nurturing over 5,000 leaders in Cyber-Physical Systems. We are pleased to have conducted the program where extensive interventions based on a comprehensive need gap analysis were conducted by our teams and then sessions with industry experts were facilitated by us. Active growth mentoring was also provided to provide enough impetus for their next level of targets and investment readiness. Conversations we need to have... Did you know of a new category of products called 'Manscaping' — or about Men's intimate grooming and hygiene? Unfortunately, not much talk about it compared to Women. Here is a brand called Zlade which has actually created this category and awareness around it with their range of products and direct, often very bold messaging. And, if you believe me (as I have the numbers), without a surprise for us and the management, they beat all competition by 5X on certain mainstream E-commerce channels. But must be a surprise for most given the sensitivity around the issue itself, which is often sidelined in everyday conversations. Might be considered a niche category for now but in terms of data, again, most would be surprised that just the trimmers category is currently at INR 5000 cr and will reach 12000 crores with more than 50% yoy growth in body trimmers making body and beard 50-50% of the category by 2027. That's $1.5bn without adjusting for inflation and indexing! Did anyone know this? And, the fastest growing sales channel? Qcommerce—more surprises! Everyone needs a trim in 10 minutes 😀.
