Having experienced the digital divide firsthand, we understand its devastating impact on growth in the 21st century. For underprivileged students, the digital divide is a harsh reality they have been living in for so long. It restricts their access to quality education, skill development, global resources, and equal opportunities. It's not just a tech gap; it's a gap in possibilities to live a better life. This #DaanUtsav (Oct 2-8), we are seeking your support to bridge that digital divide by seeking donations for laptops. At our residential campus, Satyashodhak Youth Resource Center in Nagpur, where we help first-generation students prepare for higher education, we want to ensure that every student has access to a laptop. No one should be deprived of the opportunities technology can provide. #DaanUtsav is India’s biggest giving festival. On this occasion, Give is hosting #100Heroes, India's largest fundraising event and we are part of it too. We have come this far with your genuine and kind support, and we will go further with these funds too! Help us to serve our students with the best technology! Your donation can help us win rewards upto 11 lakhs in Give's #100Heroes too! #movienights 🎬 at our #residentialcampus Our Eklavya Residential Campus is more than just a place of conventional learning; it's a creative hub for critical thinking and cultural awareness. Our movie screenings include documentaries, short films, feature films, and ad films, and they are an integral part of our curriculum. Through this activity, we're trying to break down the barriers of passive consumption and foster a deeper understanding of society. We watch the films in class, under the open skies, and occasionally in theatres. Recently, our students were privileged to watch 'Thangalaan,' a powerful film directed by PA Ranjith. It is a powerful Tamil period action drama based on the true story of a tribal community at KGF during British rule. It not only entertained the students but also ignited conversations about marginalized communities and their struggles. The film's significance lies in its portrayal of these communities and their resistance to oppression. PA Ranjith is known for his ability to tell stories that center the voices of those often overlooked, and Thangalaan is no exception. By witnessing stories that resonate with their own experiences, our students are empowered to see themselves in the world and challenge dominant narratives. Beyond entertainment, we will continue to utilize cinema and different audio-visual narratives as a form of enlightenment and education. We are cultivating a generation of young minds capable of analyzing, interpreting, and creating their own stories. #filmscreening #discussion #criticalthinking #thangalaan #pinkmovie #paranjith #artpedagogy #cinemabeyondentertainment

    Senior Director, Social Entrepreneurship,

Eklavya India Foundation 's Satyashodhak Youth Resource Center is a place that will fill you with boundless energy and optimism. The infectious spirit here is like witnessing a phoenix rise from the ashes. Meeting over 65 first-generation graduates from historically marginalized communities, who are realizing their potential and are ready to spread their wings and soar is inspiring. The pervasiveness of casteism and the effect of historical marginalization on children and youth is a “Big Elephant in the Room"—one we'd rather sweep under the carpet. Historical marginalization often leads to accumulated disadvantages—poverty within households and communities that curbs aspirations, and circumstances that force children to assume adult responsibilities far too early. These youth have had access to only the bare minimum resources in schools and residential facilities, growing up in a world where adults expect little of them. They’ve shared stories of being constantly reminded of the meager generosity extended to them in education on a daily basis. Caste-segregated environments, alien languages, meager resources, and environments hostile to their growth—are still very real to these youth. The challenge of navigating spaces that privileged youth move through with ease, all while grappling with the weight of family responsibilities and surviving in systems designed to hold them back. Yet, despite these daunting barriers, the youth at Eklavya’s Satyashodhak Youth Resource Center are refusing to settle for less. They are embracing their possibilities with determination and courage, forging ahead into a brighter future. Their stories of resilience are a testament to what is possible when people are given the opportunity to break free from the chains of disadvantage. Once you’ve achieved the escape velocity out of poverty, it’s natural to want to secure that progress for yourself and your family. But what makes Raju Kendre, Prashant Chavhan, Akash Modak, and Smita Tatewar truly extraordinary is their commitment to something greater. They’ve made it their life’s mission to reach back and lift countless others out of those same shackles, extending opportunities to those still fighting their way through. I’ll be sharing more reflections soon, but this visit reminded me that casteism and marginalization are conversations we need to have. Acknowledging these systemic challenges is the first step toward real change. #thenudgeincubator #HopeInAction #EklavyaIndiaFoundation #FirstGenerationGraduates #YouthLeadership #BreakingBarriers #SocialChange #CasteAndCommunity #EmpoweringTheFuture #RiseAndSoar Subhashree Dutta Parna Paul Nitin Malik Anupam Joshi Chinmayi Kulkarni Preethika Sabu Anvitha Padurthi Krittika Sridharan The/Nudge Institute

    Senior Director, Social Entrepreneurship,

A Story of Strength, Determination, and Transformation I recently had the privilege of spending two days with the incredible team at Eklavya India Foundation , and during this time, I met some truly remarkable individuals. I’ll be sharing more stories in the coming days. One encounter that deeply moved me was with Sujata Dhanpal Modak from Galwha Village in Yavatmal, a woman whose resilience and strength left an indelible mark on me. Sujata had completed her 9th grade but, like many women from marginalized communities, societal pressures led her to marry a man who had only passed 4th grade. Life handed her many hardships—widowed while her children were still in primary school, trapped in an ultra-poor household with minimal land and support, and navigating a patriarchal society with two children to raise. Despite these overwhelming challenges, she remained steadfast in her commitment to one goal: to educate her children, no matter what. Sujata worked tirelessly, farming on her small plot of land and earning additional income through tailoring. Her determination paid off—both her sons, Akash Modak and Kundan Modak, have completed their graduation and postgraduate programs. Akash, who was part of Eklavya’s first cohort, is now a co-founder of Eklavya India Foundation , alongside the inspiring leadership of Raju Kendre, Prashant Chavhan, and Smita Tatewar. Each of these leaders has fought against all odds, coming from historically marginalized communities, and has paved an inspiring path for the world to follow. The bond between Sujata and her sons was heartwarming. I was especially moved by the way she gifts them books on their birthdays, always nurturing a love of learning. Today, Sujata has built a pucca house, replacing their old kacha structure. But what stood out most was how this family spends their evenings discussing social issues and brainstorming solutions. Sujata encourages her sons to stay socially conscious and always find ways to give back to the community. She has offered her terrace to a young woman who teaches English to the village kids for free. Beyond her family, Sujata has become a beacon of hope for the women in her village. She’s actively encouraged them to form Self-Help Groups (SHGs), empowering them to take charge of their futures. Her next aspiration? To become an entrepreneur herself, continuing to inspire and uplift those around her. Wishing her more power! 💪 The most unexpected moment? Sujata gifted me a book—Radical Transformational Leadership by Monica Sharma. Her spirit, generosity, and determination to create change are super inspiring. When a woman is determined, she can move mountains. 🌍 Have you met such inspiring women in your life? I’d love to hear your stories. Let’s celebrate these unsung heroes together! 🙌 #thenudgeincubator Subhashree Dutta Anupam Joshi Parna Paul Nitin Malik Anvitha Padurthi Chinmayi Kulkarni Preethika Sabu Krittika Sridharan The/Nudge Institute

Placement Committee at TISS-Centre of Excellence in Teacher Education

Kishor Bethekar: "Dreams Do Come True... 🎓 Graduating from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) Mumbai with an amazing group of people feels surreal. Two years ago, the thought of stepping into TISS was just a dream, but today, that hard work has paid off, and I’m incredibly proud to have earned my Master’s degree in Education from the TISS-Centre of Excellence in Teacher Education (CETE), one of the most prestigious institutions in the country. The journey to TISS Mumbai wasn’t easy. Coming from a remote area like Melghat, I had little experience navigating a massive metropolitan city like Mumbai, and the transition itself was overwhelming. The pace, the people, the academic rigor—it all seemed daunting at first. But the moment I stepped onto the TISS campus, I felt like I had entered a place where the world came to learn, question, and grow. Initially, I was nervous about whether I would fit in or whether I could keep up with the intense academic environment. The CETE Department, with its blend of critical discussions, interactive learning, and field engagements, was challenging but transformative. I quickly realized that TISS wasn’t just about academics—it was about understanding social realities, diving deep into ground-level work, and questioning systems of education that impact marginalized communities like my own. I distinctly remember the first few weeks, trying to grasp the complexity of discussions in class. The conversations about educational policies, teacher development, and the broader systemic inequalities in the country really hit home for me. It was here that I began to connect my own experiences growing up in Melghat to the larger issues that we were studying. TISS didn’t just teach me theory; it made me reflect on my own identity and the role I could play in creating change. My friends, particularly Dipalee and Krishna, who have been with me since my BSW days, were a huge source of strength. We had studied together for five years at BSW-TISS, and our bond only grew stronger through the MA program. They were always there—whether it was late-night study sessions or just encouraging me when things felt overwhelming. We’ve been through so much together that I can’t imagine this journey without them. In my MA batch, the bond I developed with my classmates was equally significant. I was lucky to meet amazing people like Palak, Anuvab, Krishnakanth, Diksha, RAMNIWAS, Mrinal, Mallika, Bhavna, Riya, Arti, and Sandhya, who weren’t just my batch mates but also my support system. We helped each other navigate the academic load, the emotional ups and downs, and the various projects we worked on. The CETE family wasn’t just about academic collaboration; it was about genuine friendships and shared learning experiences that will stay with me forever. (Continued in comments)

#Eklavyacampusdiaries Today, Eklavya Residential Campus welcomed Rasika Bombatkar, who shared her inspiring journey from Nagpur to Oxford University with our PG residential crash course students. She is a Neurophysiotherapy specialist with a master's from AIIPMR, Mumbai, and an MSc in International Health and Tropical Medicine from the University of Oxford. She established Maharashtra's first comprehensive physiotherapy unit in tribal areas, training local youths and health workers. Her session has sparked enthusiasm among our students to explore foreign education opportunities, dispelling financial and socio-economic constraints. Now studying in Bangalore, Mumbai, or Delhi is just one benchmark; Oxford is next and within reach! After having a conversation with Rasika, and knowing her journey, this is the thought they will stay with for the next 2 months. Their understanding of possibilities and what can be achieved has grown exponentially with such conversations. It is going to expand even more in the coming days! #longwaytogo #moretocome #quality #highereducationmatters #educationmatters #globalopportunities
