Managing a food manufacturing unit has never been more complex especially for companies with a global presence in over 50 countries. With dynamic supply chain pressures, increased focus on food waste, plastic and sustainability as well as escalating costs being in charge of the manufacturing units is no easy feat.  The annual Global Plant Manager’s meet, held in the German headquarters, this April focused on optimisng manufacturing excellence, driving strategies for International ambient production and common KPI’s besides charting out the vision for digitalisation on the shop floor. The Dr. Oetker India Kaharani plant, the 2nd largest ambient plant in the Dr. Oetker Food Division and touted as a best-in-class manufacturing unit by all visitors, was delighted to be ranked as #1 in Food Waste Management amongst all worldwide plants in the group, thanks to the conscious, consistent and sustained efforts of all team members. Being part of an international organisation has many perks but also presents some interesting challenges and learnings. As part of celebrating Cultural Diversity this month, Oliver Mirza MD Dr. Oetker India was invited to be a part of the Leader’s Panel on Navigating Cross-Cultural Collaboration along with his colleagues, Alberto de Stasio, MD, cameo spa Italy and Inas Abdel Rahman MD, Tag El Melouk, Egypt Team members from across global offices logged in to hear the inspiring and thought provoking exchange that ranged from what is considered a ‘’normal coffee’’ in different cultures to determining the qualities such as empathy, active listening, curiosity and willingness to move out of one’s comfort zone to successfully lead in a cross-cultural environment.
