सीएसआईआर-राष्ट्रीय रासायनिक प्रयोगशाला, पुणे, एक प्रतिष्ठित कार्बनिक रसायनज्ञ, प्रो. सुख देव के निधन पर गहरा शोक व्यक्त करता है। 17 जून 1923 को अविभाजित भारत (अब पाकिस्तान में) के चकवाल में जन्मे, उन्होंने लाहौर के डीएवी कॉलेज से एम.एससी. पूरी की, और भारतीय विज्ञान संस्थान, बैंगलोर से पीएचडी और डी.एससी. की उपाधि प्राप्त की। प्रोफेसर सुख देव 1960 में सीएसआईआर-एनसीएल में कार्बनिक रसायन विभाग के प्रमुख के रूप में शामिल हुए और 1974 तक सेवा की।
CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory, Pune, deeply mourns the loss of Prof. Sukh Dev, a distinguished organic chemist. Born on 17 June 1923 in Chakwal, undivided India (now in Pakistan), he completed his M.Sc. from D.A.V. College, Lahore, and earned his Ph.D. and D.Sc. from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.
Professor Sukh Dev joined CSIR-NCL in 1960 as the Head of Organic Chemistry Division and served until 1974. He made CSIR-NCL one of the famous schools for natural products research in the 20th century. Renowned for his isolation of natural products with unprecedented skeletons, Professor Sukh Dev was known for complementing fundamental research with practical solutions. His Japanese sense of timing and his Swiss precision are legendary! A great, visionary chemist, he will live forever in the hearts and minds of us all, and serve as a beacon for creativity, originality, elegance and applicability of research.
