A People-Centric Budget which balances equitable growth with fiscal sustainability. - Sanjiv Puri, President, CII on #Budget2024 The maiden budget of the new government has unveiled a comprehensive roadmap for sustainable and equitable growth while retaining the focus on creation of jobs. Budget 2024-25 provides an extensive roadmap for each segment of society so that every Indian becomes an equity holder in the growth aspirations of the new and progressive India. The focus of the Budget on employment, skilling, MSMEs, and the middle-class along with measures for agriculture, urban development, incentivising states to carry out NextGen reforms, taking steps for promoting a virtuous cycle of consumption, investment and demand, and support to start-ups and women, among others is timely and would contribute significantly towards empowering people, and making growth inclusive while providing an impetus to consumption and growth. In doing so, the Finance Minister deserves credit for displaying astute financial management by keeping the fiscal deficit target at better than expected 4.9 per cent of GDP for the current fiscal while retaining the focus on capital expenditure which is no mean achievement considering the daunting external milieu and its impact on India. #CII4Budget2024 #UnionBudget #BudgetSession2024 #Budget #BudgetDay #UnionBudget2024 Nirmala Sitharaman

#UnionBudget2024 provides continuity to India’s successful holistic economic strategy to drive growth with inclusion. - Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General, CII on #Budget2024 Provision of Rs 2 lakh crore to facilitate employment, skilling and other opportunities for 4.1 crore youth over a period 5 years, will help empower India’s youth to partake in the India growth story. With an allocation of Rs 3 lakh crore towards schemes for women and girls, women led development remains a high priority. The three schemes announced under employment linked incentives (ELIs) are indeed welcome and are in line with CII recommendations. The initiatives such as setting up vegetable clusters, boost to digital public infrastructure for agriculture and boost to cooperatives, will empower the Indian farmers and help boost their incomes. The nine priorities announced in the Budget with the objective of generating opportunities for all has set the stage for India to march towards a sustained high growth trajectory, which is essential to achieving the goal of #ViksitBharat. #CII4Budget2024 #cii4india #UnionBudget #BudgetSession2024 #Budget #BudgetDay Nirmala Sitharaman

The GDP growth for FY25, which is imminently achievable, is driven by excellent macro financial management, and facilitative policy environment which includes a thrust on capex and inflation control. CII is confident that, going forward, the Indian economy has the potential to achieve 7 per cent plus growth backed by a consensus between the centre, states and the private sector on the reform agenda. - Sanjiv Puri, President, CII reacts to the Economic Survey 2023-24 tabled in the Parliament today. CEA alluded to the point that employment, labour intensive sectors such as tourism, care economy and food processing sector have the potential to increase employment in the economy, which is critical. The Survey is spot-on in terms of the six key areas unveiled for Amrit Kaal namely boosting private investment, growth and expansion of MSMEs which is referred to as India’s Mittelstand; agriculture as a growth engine, financing green transition, bridging the Education-Employment Gap and building state capacity and capability. This would fast track India’s dream of realising the long-term vision for Viksit Bharat, stated Mr Puri. According to Mr Puri, the fact that greater attention should be paid to invigorating the agriculture sector to provide a boost to rural demand has been rightly recognised by the Survey. Similarly, the focus on improving the quality of life in the hinterland and emphasis on the social sector such as healthcare, would go a long way to empower the marginalised and ensure that every Indian becomes a stakeholder in New India. CII wholeheartedly supports the reforms agenda proposed in the Survey for the medium term and hopes that forthcoming Budget would implement some of the measures which would help to unlock the growth potential of the Indian economy, said CII President. #EconomicSurvey2024 #CII4Budget2024 #Budget2024 #cii4india Nirmala Sitharaman ITC Limited

The #EconomicSurvey2024 is pragmatic in its approach and offers a futuristic vision to move India boldly towards achieving the developed economy status by 2047. - Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General, CII comments on the Economic Survey 2023-24, presented in the Parliament today. Going forward, CII supports the optimism exuded by the Economic Survey about economic growth, which has been projected to be within the range of 6.5-7.0 per cent for FY25. CII believes that the growth projections proposed in the Survey for FY25 may even be surpassed despite rising geopolitical uncertainties powered by strong macroeconomic fundamentals and ushering of next-gen reforms that would catalyze growth prospects. The focus on agriculture, capital expenditure, asset monetization, reducing the education-employment gap; manufacturing and ease of doing business, expanding MSMEs, providing a fillip to future-ready sectors which includes plans to make India a drone hub by 2030, sustainability and climate financing, among others are noteworthy initiatives taken up by the Survey and would rev up the growth engines of the economy. #CII4Budget2024 #Budget2024 #cii4india Nirmala Sitharaman
