𝑄𝑢𝑎𝑙𝑖𝑡𝑦 𝐶𝑜𝑛𝑡𝑟𝑜𝑙: Implement and ensure adherence to quality control procedures in geotechnical investigations and analyses. Review and approve geotechnical deliverables. 𝐶𝑙𝑖𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝐼𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑟𝑎𝑐𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛: Engage with clients to understand project requirements, present findings, and address queries.Build and maintain strong client relationships. Ltd. has recently procured the Seismic cone as an attachment to our CPTu rigs to perform seismic CPTu tests. The seismic cone, purchased from Marchetti Dilatometer —--- has two seismic sensors spaced 0.5 m apart to measure the shear wave velocity. The seismic CPTu provides both geotechnical and seismic data in one test, including shear wave velocity, aiding in better soil profiling and foundation design. Prior to 1924, decisions in earthwork engineering were primarily based on “engineering instinct” and “experience” which often died with the individual. It was this book that brought science to earth engineering. As member of the 𝗕-𝟯 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗲 𝗼𝗻 “𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝘂𝗯𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝘂𝗯𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀”, Mr. Ravi Sundaram had the honour of contributing to the preparation of this important document. Mr. Sundaram’s contribution has primarily been in the aspects related to subsurface investigation, foundation design, quality assurance of piles and a host of other topics. The IRC B-3 Committee took up revision of IRC 78 Section VII-2014 based on the directions of the Bridge Specifications and Standards Committee (BSS). The Committee also formulated Code of Practice for design of foundations on Limit State Approach and numbered it as IRC:78 Part 2. Accordingly, this revised code has been numbered as 𝗜𝗥𝗖:𝟳𝟴 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝟭. The IRC B-3 Committee deliberated in a number of meetings and finalized the revised code in its meeting held on 02.05.2022 and recommended its submission to the BSS Committee for its consideration. meeting held on 16.06.2022. After approval by the BSS, the revised code was approved by the IRC Council in its 222nd meeting in June, 2022. Cengrs is excited to see the publication of this document which covers a wide range of topics related to design of foundations of bridges. In addition to scour, the code of practice includes subsurface investigations, loads, forces, stability and stresses of open foundations, well foundation and piles as well as substructure. Nine appendices cover a wide range of topics such as guidelines for sub-surface exploration, low strain pile integrity tests, bidirectional pile load tests, silt factor calculation, etc. #Cengrs thanks all members of the B-3 Committee, particularly Mr. Shahrokh Bagli who steered the geotechnical aspects together with Mr. Ravi Sundaram and Mr. Suraj Vedpathak and convener of the committee Mr. 𝗥.
