This month, Austrade was delighted to support visits to key Indian space players for the Australian industry delegation to Benglauru Space Expo 2024 this month. Site visits to Bellatrix Aerospace and Astrogate Labs provided a glimpse into India's thriving space ecosystem. Bellatrix Aerospace: Revolutionising In-Space Mobility We witnessed live demos of satellite propulsion firing, explored cutting-edge office spaces and discussed collaboration opportunities with Yashas Karanam (Co-founder) and Amrut Y. (AVP) at Bellatrix Aerospace. Bellatrix is pushing boundaries in electric propulsion, green propulsion and orbital transfer vehicles. Astrogate Labs: Transforming Space Communications Nitish Singh (CEO) and Subhajit Chakraborty (Head – Business Development) shared insights into Astrogate's laser communication solutions, designed for harsh space conditions. We saw live demos of secure, long-distance wireless communications for small satellites. We aim to bridge connections for Australia and India's commercial space industries. As per Inc42’s analysis, the Indian spacetech market is expected to reach a whopping $77 Bn by 2030. Let’s take a look at 24 startups that are leading the nascent but ever-growing spacetech domain 👇  🚀 Last year alone as many as 100 spacetech startups got registered with ISRO.  🚀 Further, Microsoft joined hands with ISRO in January 2023 to fuel the growth of spacetech startups in India.  🚀 The growth has come on the back of approximately $233 Mn in funding raised by India’s spacetech startups across 30 deals between 2014 and July 2023, according to data compiled by Inc42. It’s imperative to mention that behind this is the government’s willingness and trust in the country’s private spacetech players – who have massive backing from the Centre in all key areas ranging from funding, technology access, and infrastructure support, among others.
