One of the very first projects I undertook after joining the TNDIC team was assisting the client in bidding for the nation’s first DTIS testing centre for UAS, EW, and EO domains. This journey has been nothing short of challenging and transformative. This project was a new and intricate challenge, demanding extensive problem-solving and strategic consulting skills. I vividly remember the long days and late nights spent navigating the complexities of the bid management process, pre-bid clarifications, and engaging with numerous companies to secure their support. Our team’s strategy-focused approach ensured that we addressed every nuance, from technical specifications to compliance issues, showcasing our capability to tackle unprecedented challenges and deliver impactful solutions. Yesterday, witnessing the signing of the MoU between TIDCO and MoD for the establishment of four testing centres, with a project cost exceeding ₹100 Crores, was a moment of immense pride. This initiative will significantly enhance the local ecosystem, providing MSMEs and companies in Tamil Nadu with world-class testing infrastructure, fostering greater collaboration with major Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs), and promoting innovation in the defence sector. The establishment of these centres is poised to drive diversification within local industries, encourage companies to venture into the A&D sectors, and stimulate economic growth through a robust supply chain. Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan called upon the three services to create a Joint Culture as they move towards forming Joint Operational Structures. Speaking on ‘Jointmanship : The Way Ahead’ as part of 22nd Major General Samir Sinha Memorial Lecture organised at USI of India in New Delhi on May 21, 2024, the CDS termed developing Joint Culture in Armed Forces as Jointness 2.0. The CDS termed Jointness & Integration as pre-requisites to the creation of functional Integrated Theatre Commands, and explained the significance of such Commands. He added that the Theatre Commands will not be an end state but the beginning of the next set of reforms.   General Anil Chauhan said that integrated Theatre Commands will lead to many reforms like Single to Multi Domain operations, fusing space and cyber space into traditional domains, digitisation of battlefield information and visualisation, net centric to data centric among others. #Jointmanship #JointCulture #TriServices #TheatreCommands
