Last year presented numerous challenges for the agricultural industry. #Farmers faced unpredictable weather events, rising input costs, price volatility, continued high interest rates, and an unstable geopolitical environment. Yet, at ADAMA Ltd., we remained steadfast in our commitment to sustainability. Sustainability is integrated into every aspect of our operations, from product development to innovation and stewardship, driving continuous improvements throughout our organization. We prioritize delivering solutions that enhance crop productivity, minimize environmental impact and reduce our carbon footprint, all while ensuring the well-being of our people, customers, and communities. In 2023, we introduced a range of innovative products aimed at enhancing farm productivity, improving soil health, and protecting natural resources. Additionally, we implemented strategic packaging redesigns and increased the use of recycled materials to reduce our environmental footprint. As we continue into 2024, we remain committed to these initiatives, striving to further innovate and expand our sustainability efforts. ADAMA India Partners with RiceTec/Savannah for Innovative Rice Farming Solutions The government's endeavour to advance Direct Seeded Rice (DSR) technology to conserve water for farmers encounters key challenges in both, weed management and attaining yields that are equivalent to transplanted rice. These challenges keep our farmers away from growing DSR varieties. This situation called for a solution in this phase to enable farmers to gain higher yields while achieving reliable weed management. Anchored in our pursuit of Listening, Learning and Delivering innovative solutions to farmers, ADAMA India recently partnered with RiceTec/Savannah Seeds. Keeping agricultural sustainability and profitability for farmers in mind, both companies leveraged their strengths and technologies to solve this. After meticulous research and trials, we tailored a solution, and a perfect match came into existence, ADAMA’s herbicide Vezir with Savannah’s FULLPAGE® Rice Cropping Solutions system. As a significant component of the FULLPAGE® Rice Cropping Solution, ADAMA’s Vezir is a herbicide that controls resistant weeds like weedy/red/feral rice and barnyard grass in Imazethapyr-tolerant hybrid rice varieties. It gives our growers reliable, broad-spectrum grass and broadleaf weed control. Powered with our targeted weed control through Vezir and Savannah’s FULLPAGE® Rice Cropping Solutions system, farmers can maximise their crop’s performance leading to bountiful harvests. India continues to amaze me with its energy and focus on agriculture. In 2023, Indian farmers and agricultural communities faced significant challenges due to extreme weather events, including a century-event drought and heavy rainfall followed by hailstorms - all remainders of the impact of #climatechange on crop and global food security. During my recent visit to ADAMA India, alongside Efrat Nagar and David Peters, we met with key customers. Listening to their concerns, we facilitated meaningful discussions, setting the stage for deeper collaborations and future growth. One remarkable lesson from Indian farmers is their resilience and optimism even after such a challenging year. India holds a unique place in ADAMA's operations, with a wide range of activities covering commercial operations, global R&D and manufacturing. I am deeply impressed by our team's agility in adapting to challenging farming conditions and their focus on delivering innovative solutions and support to local farmers, particularly during trying times. We remain fully dedicated to furthering our investment in the Indian market, driven by our firm belief in the potential of Indian farmers to thrive. Truly an inspiring visit!
