Why Work-Life Balance, when you can have a life that works From millennials, who have spent two decades of workforce experience, to the Gen-Z’s, who are kick-starting their careers, we are in a fast-paced, tech-driven world. With everything at our fingertips and once-upon-a-time “conveniences” becoming a way of life, one would expect us to have more time at our disposal, so why is work-life balance such a hot topic for these generations in today's workforce? Work-life balance is like trying to keep 2 sides of a scale perfectly levelled, with work on one side and personal life on the other. The goal is to have them evenly balanced as we navigate through life. However, instead of striving for balance, what if we aimed for integration and purpose? Just like everyone else, I was looking for more than just getting through the daily grind, when I came across the Japanese concept of “Ikigai”, (Through the book Ikigai: The Japanese Secret to a Long and Happy Life by Authors Héctor García & Francesc Miralles) which translates to “Reason for being”. It’s the intersection of what you love, what you are good at, what the world needs and what you can be paid for. • What You Love: Your passions and interests. • What you are good at: Your skills and strengths. • What the world needs: How you can you contribute to society. • What you can be paid for: Your profession and vocation. When these elements align, one can feel a sense of purpose that drives you with enthusiasm and motivation, it gives you a reason to jump out of bed in the morning, feeling that your life has meaning and direction. I think finding your Ikigai is the secret sauce to a work-life integration, which can lead to a more fulfilling life, here are a few steps in my experience: • Self-reflection: Identify your skills and passions, reflecting on what brings you joy and incorporating these into your work. • Values: Ensure your work aligns with your personal values and contributes to the greater good. • Flexibility: Embrace flexibility, allowing a natural flow between work tasks and personal activities. • Mindfulness: Practice mindfulness to stay present in both work and personal moments. • Rhythm: Integration is about finding a rhythm that works for you and bringing you close to your Ikigai. Mix your work and personal life, and make sure they vibe with what you really care about. That’s how you make every day balanced, meaningful, and satisfying. #recruitment #hr #91HR #worklife #ikigai #balance Erlic Almeida

From our Head of Operations: Want the Upper Hand? Control the Choices, Control the Game I've been reading "The 48 Laws of Power" by Robert Greene lately. One of the laws particularly inspired me to write this blog. In leadership, sales, and influence, one of the most powerful strategies is controlling the options people see. Inspired by Robert Greene’s The 48 Laws of Power, this principle is about offering choices that ultimately align with your goals—while giving others the sense they are in control. When done right, it’s a subtle but highly effective way to guide decisions. Why Controlling Options Matters When you strategically present options, you: Increase the chances of getting the outcome you want. Position yourself as a confident leader with a clear vision. Build trust by giving others a sense of ownership over their decisions. Shift the power dynamics in conversations, ensuring that all roads lead to success. How to Control Options: Set the stage: Begin conversations on your terms, framing the options in a way that benefits you. Offer guided choices: Present a limited set of options where each outcome advances your goals. Leverage psychology: Understand what drives others and use that knowledge to guide their decision-making. Anticipate resistance: Be prepared for objections and have responses ready that still lead toward your preferred path. Stay adaptable: While the goal is control, flexibility is key in adjusting to how others respond. Conclusion Mastering the art of controlling options is a powerful skill in leadership and sales. It’s not about forcing decisions—it’s about creating a framework where others feel empowered, yet their choices still move you toward your objectives. The key is subtlety: setting the stage, presenting meaningful choices, and allowing others to feel part of the process. Actionable Takeaways Practice guiding conversations with purpose and intent. Learn the basics of human psychology and decision-making. Develop flexible strategies that allow for adjustment on the fly. Refine your negotiation and influence techniques. —-Vilky Vilky Dsouza Erlic Almeida Tanzeem Khan Juned Khan Samson Fernandes Mihir Pandit #sales #leadership #motivation

From the desk of our MD, Erlic Almeida : As we navigate through life, we're often expected to follow a set path and ways, set by our parents, grandparents, or past generations. One common expectation is the idea of success, which society pushes us to achieve to be seen as "successful," "credible," or "doing well," and to be treated that way. The definition of success is pre-programmed in us by others who may not even have anything to do with our lives. Many of us follow the usual path in life, checking off our families’ and society's expectations, but we rarely find that bliss, that contentment, no matter how hard we work or how much recognition we get for meeting those standards. There are plenty of people with a biased opinion regarding the easiest path, however, we have limited time and we have to choose between using the constantly followed recipe book which has an assured outcome based on consensus or modifying the recipe and finding personal fulfilment and happiness along the way and redefining the outcome. Here is how I took a detour from conventions and tried to make life more fulfilling for myself. Personal Fulfilment Over Societal Expectations: Steering my life with prioritizing what brings me joy and contentment. Quality of Life: Balanced life, finding satisfaction in the work that I do and in personal relationships. Defining Success on Personal Terms: Not seeking external validation, but rather redefining goals based on my values and aspirations Simplicity and Contentment: Appreciating what I have and nurturing it. The best things in life aren’t things. Disclaimer: This is a constant work in progress and is no easy task.

On this sacred day of Eid-e-Milad, we reflect on the timeless teachings of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), whose leadership was built on the pillars of justice, compassion, and equality. As we celebrate his birth, let us embrace his example in our professional lives—leading with fairness, treating our employees with dignity, and ensuring that justice is served without bias or favoritism. Just as Prophet Muhammad(Peace Be Upon Him) uplifted those around him, may we create a workplace where everyone thrives in an environment of mutual respect, kindness, and integrity.
