Introducing Sinead Stephens and Jade Coates - our new Trainee Actuaries who have joined the Class of 2024 at PwC Isle of Man! Sinead and Jade (pictured below left to right) started working in our Actuarial team earlier this year and have begun studying for their actuarial qualifications through the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries. This career pathway involves a number of years of training and on-the-job experience as students work towards becoming fully qualified actuaries and we wish our trainees the best of luck throughout their studies! PwC's 2024 Global Youth Outlook survey engaged 2,200 young people to establish their understanding and priorities concerning the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Over the last few weeks, our actuarial team welcomed three summer interns - Adam Roberts, James Orwin and Jonty Bregazzi - to learn what a career as an actuary is like: 🧑🎓 Adam interned with the team in 2021 as a sixth form student and decided to apply for a second internship to gain more actuarial experience. Now going into his final year at the University of York, Adam is studying for a BSc Economics and Mathematics. 🧑💻 James found the actuarial team to be “very welcoming” and the internship a “fantastic opportunity to learn all about a career with PwC Isle of Man”. He also attends the University of York and is studying for a BSc Mathematics. 👨🔬 Jonty, a student at the University of Liverpool who is completing a Masters in Mechanical Engineering, shared that he “particularly enjoyed the opportunity to familiarise myself with industry-specific software”. Caring for wellbeing at PwC Isle of Man 🫶 Over the past few months we’ve shared a wellbeing series exploring how our people have used ‘Wellbeing Vouchers’, issued by the firm to each member of staff and worth £100, to enrich their personal wellbeing in a way that is impactful and memorable to them. Over the summer our Compliance Senior Associate, Amy Gordon, took an off-island trip: “I spent my ‘Wellbeing Voucher’ on a ticket to see Wicked, a stage production about the Witches of Oz in London. Having loved the music for years, it was wonderful to go to see the musical itself and be absorbed in the story for the afternoon!” 🧙♀️🎭

Our summer internship series continues with Holly Hennessy sharing her experience as an audit intern. Holly is an undergraduate student studying Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Durham University who seized the opportunity to spend some of her summer break working with our people and finding out what a career at PwC Isle of Man might look like. Summer internships are a great way to gain first-hand experience while you earn over three weeks, as well as further develop a variety of professional and people skills. Caring for wellbeing at PwC Isle of Man 🫶 Nichola Christison, a Partner in the firm, put her ‘Wellbeing Voucher’ towards supporting physical and mental wellbeing. She shares: “I used my Wellness Voucher to buy bootcamp sessions at a local gym. Exercise has such a positive impact on my physical and mental wellbeing that I don't mind getting up at 6:00 a.m! I start my day with focus and energy, knowing that I have the resilience to deal with whatever life throws at me.” 🏋️♀️ Our Wellbeing Voucher initiative gave all staff the opportunity to spend £100 on an element of wellbeing that is important to them, all while raising awareness of the need to look after ourselves in different ways.
