Less than 2 months have passed since the Texas launch of our #resilient and #sustainable backup power solution in Austin while terrible storms in Houston left over a million homes without power for days. Houston Chronicle reports that on Monday Hurricane Beryl caused the largest outage in the history of Houston area utility CenterPoint Energy – even more than the 2.1 million who lost power during Hurricane Ike in 2008. The utility can estimate when power will be restored only after its crews complete damage assessment; meanwhile triple digit temperatures increase pressure on the grid, outages and danger. We share our deepest sympathies with all those suffering from this tragedy and are working to increase availability of our backup power solutions in the region with hopes to mitigate future such damages. Interesting read from IDTechEx Research: As BEV uptake increases, utility grids are becoming increasingly strained, putting in question the capacity of distribution networks to support the rollout of EV charging infrastructure and electrification of new sectors such as construction equipment. The report assesses the off-grid charging hardware technologies developing to address these challenges - among them the GenCell EVOX® - forecasting this new market to reach US$16 billion by 2034 with a CAGR of 47.15%.
