Introducing Batocera rufomaculata – the creepiest looking long-horn beetle. It’s parent to one of the most serious larvae pests for fruit and nut trees—Tropical Fig Borers and Mango Tree Borers.🪳 Feeding on the leaves and twigs of #trees, adult females lay their eggs under the bark. Once hatched, the larvae bore into tree trunks and devastate top growth, causing substantial damage, loss of #crops, and even death of the host tree. 🌳 Thanks to our colleague Inbar Greenspoon ADAMA US for capturing this striking  image on a field visit in Israel. #PhotoFriday 📷

Washington State, the western-most state in the Pacific Northwest region of America, is by far the country’s largest producer of apples. We announced the appointment of Gaël Hili as President and Chief Executive Officer of ADAMA Ltd, based in Tel Aviv, effective October 1, 2024. With deep knowledge and a wealth of experience across the agriculture sector, Gaël will move from his position as Head of Europe Syngenta Crop Protection and Seeds Field Crops, and will join the Syngenta Group Leadership Team. In our rapidly changing world, #farmers are faced with increasingly complex agronomic challenges as they strive to maintain yields, and find sustainable #CropProtection options that reduce environmental impact.   Our challenge is to learn from experiences in the field; using our expertise to create innovative technologies for our products, to help farmers grow crops and feed the world’s growing population.   🧪 SESGAMA™ technology enables more active ingredient to exist in a smaller volume, reducing environmental impact throughout the life of the product.   🌾 Asorbital® technology improves leaf penetration and the movement of active ingredient through the plant, giving superior performance to protect cereal yields.   These are just two of our many proprietary technologies, that are the basis for our continued #innovation providing new, sustainable formulations aligned with growers’ needs.

The common poppy (Papaver rhoeas) may be beautiful, but for #farmers it’s a troublesome weed; especially in winter cereals and oilseed rape, where it can compete with crops and reduce yields.🌾 By quickly growing and setting seed before the host crop is mature, poppies can ensure their long-term survival. The tiny seeds spread efficiently in the wind and can remain dormant for up to 100 years; waiting patiently in soil for the perfect conditions, before new plants germinate in autumn and spring, and the #weeds thrive once again. 🌱 In this stunning image sent by our colleague Remigijus Peleckis (PhD) for #PhotoFriday, we see poppies growing in winter wheat fields in the Panevėžys District Municipality, of Lithuania.
