Your pharmacy is the frontline of winter wellness! It is important for all Pharmacists and Pharmacy staff to support patients during cold and flu season and to remind patients of the importance of staying well. The Health Service Executive recommends getting the flu vaccine before flu season starts to protect you from flu. Flu season runs from October to May with outbreaks lasting from 6-8 weeks. Flu can affect people of all ages. As a Pharmacist, remind your patients in advance that the vaccine is available and administering if necessary. It is the best way to protect against flu. September is Sepsis Awareness Month. So, today on world sepsis day, we ask all Pharmacists and Pharmacy staff to educate themselves about sepsis and spotting the signs and symptoms. Sepsis can affect anybody, at any age; but it is more likely to occur in older people, very young children or those with a weak immune system. We encourage all pharmacists to know the signs of Sepsis and Don’t be afraid to ask… 'Could this be Sepsis?'
