We are thrilled that Group Captain John 'Paddy' Hemingway, one of the last surviving Battle of Britain pilots, recently celebrated this remarkable birthday with us in our Foxrock Nursing Home. We are privileged to honour his legacy and contributions to history. John continues to enrich our community, inspiring both residents and staff alike. We were delighted to welcome Minister for Finance, Jack Chambers TD, and Tadhg Daly CEO from Nursing Homes Ireland to our Rathborne Nursing Home. It was an important opportunity to discuss and present the pre-budget submission for Budget 2025 on behalf of nursing homes across Ireland. Nursing Homes Ireland (NHI) pre-budget Submission for 2025, emphasised the urgent need for government intervention to ensure the sustainability of nursing home care. Key proposed measures include: All State Sponsored Proposed Cost Increases to Undergo a Full Regulatory Impact Assessment (RIA), an Immediate Stabilisation Fund, Provide Equal Access to Services for all Nursing Home Residents, and Recognition for the Role of Healthcare Assistant (HCA) as a professional occupation. A big thank you to Minister Jack Chambers TD and Tadhg Daly for visiting us, spending time with our residents, and joining in the celebration of Hugh, who was 97 years young today. Happy birthday Hugh it's wonderful to mark this special milestone with you, your family and the wider Trinity Care community. We are so proud to be part of these meaningful moments that define the care we provide. As we look ahead, we call on the continued support for nursing homes across Ireland to ensure we can care for our ageing population as they once cared for us. It is vital that we prioritise and invest in the services and resources needed to provide the dignity, respect, and support our elderly deserve in their later years. Nursing Homes Ireland wrapped up their final visit of #NursingHomesWeek2024 last week at our Drakelands Nursing Home, and what a wonderful way to end the week! It was lovely to have them down in Kilkenny with us! The day was filled with music from the talented Sean Shortis, bringing joy to residents and staff. Mayor of Kilkenny, Andrew McGuinness, and Local TD, John McGuinness joined the celebration, awarding certificates and medals for the boules competition and recognising the best photographer.
