We're excited to take another step forward in our journey to a net-zero future by committing to a 40% reduction in embodied carbon by 2030, an industry-first and first-of-its-scale. Buildings are currently responsible for 40% of global energy related carbon emissions. A critical step in lowering the overall carbon footprint of buildings is to reduce their amount of embodied carbon, which is the total amount of greenhouse gas emissions associated with a product’s lifecycle, including the extraction of raw materials, manufacturing, transportation and recycling of materials and products. Watch as Jose La Loggia, Group President - EMEA, breaks down the technologies, strategies and collaborations that will drive the built environment towards #netzero and dramatically reduce emissions for a more sustainable world. #NetZeroNow
"Buildings will no longer be energy sinks, they will be energy sources." We have always heated our buildings, but cooling is a more recent development. Today, most buildings still have separate heating and cooling plants, even though the two often operate at the same time. As Jose La Loggia from Trane Technologies explains, breaking from tradition could be transformative. A building with combined services could even generate renewable energy and run its own facilities, including heating and cooling systems, without taking power from the grid 🔌 Such a building wouldn't just have lower emissions – it would be Net Positive. This month at RE:TV we’re unpacking the potential of #sustainablebuildings. To learn more about cutting operational carbon, watch the extended interview with Jose on our hub full of films and reports 👉 https://lnkd.in/evBMwwhf Discover how Trane Technologies are working with other industry leaders to decarbonise the sector as part of the Sustainable Markets Initiative's Sustainable Buildings Task Force 👉 https://lnkd.in/e4G7akwh
