The awards showcase the best audio content in Ireland and our #MorningGlory duo won in the Broadcaster category for the innovative promotion: "Gallagher's Grand Primera", a competition, with MicksGarage.com After hearing a weekend music feature of driving songs on Radio Nova PJ Gallagher had an idea. He’d been left his recently deceased mum’s car and because he didn’t have the need for it, he wanted it to be the first ever car given away on Radio Nova! PJ & Jim announced the near 20-year-old car was up for grabs on air only to have owner of Mick’s Garage, Mick Crean, phone in to support PJ’s madcap idea offering something to help make the car a bit more enticing: two flights, four nights’ accommodation and two grandstand F1 Grand Prix tickets! Meaning someone would get a Grand Primera and go to Italy’s Gran Premio! PJ talked about the crazy competition on Virgin Media’s Six O’clock Show and it was written about in the Irish Independent, Irish Mirror and Dublin Gazette Newspaper. For 2 weeks each morning PJ & Jim revealed a “Mick’s Pick” driving song that listeners had to text when they heard it to try and win a key that could unlock the car. There was also a bonus chance to get a key for people watching a video on social media of the dynamic duo trying to get the car going guessing how many items PJ pulled out from the car. On Friday March 3 all key holders gathered at a live broadcast of Morning Glory at Mick’s Car Racks Store on Kylemore Road to see Joey O'Doherty from Clongriffen open the car and win the trip to the GP and the car! #RadioNova beat off a record level of entries to win the prestigious #IrishAudioAward celebrating creativity and championing teams that make great radio. With the release of this weeks latest #JNLR figures I’m proud to say Radio NOVA 100 has leapt into the number two ✌🏾 position in the Dublin radio 📻 marketplace. Not bad for a leap year hey?! 😉 The latest set of results show the station is SO CLOSE to being #1 ☝🏾🏆🎶 music station and has passed out Today FM, 98FM, Spin, Sunshine, Classic Hits and Q102. We also had increases in total weekly listenership to 211,000 ( 10,000) and daily reach to 114,000 ( 5).
