  • The Malting Company of Ireland is pleased to announce that we have joined the National Biodiversity Data Centre All-Ireland Pollinator Plan. The All-Ireland Pollinator Plan is a shared plan of action that brings together different sectors across the island of Ireland to create a landscape where pollinators can survive and thrive.  One-third of Ireland's wild bee species is threatened with extinction, mainly because we have drastically reduced the amount of food and safe nesting sites that support them. The Malting Company of Ireland wants to play its part in helping to improve our site's natural habitat to support Irish pollinators.  #SDGs #Dairygold #Tirlan #Sustainabliity #Biodiversity

Happy International Beer Day 🍻 Freddy Heineken once said “ We don‘t sell beer, we sell gezelligheid (good times)“. To mark International Beer day today, Heineken® is launching a new ad bringing to life these good times. We're celebrating the “forgotten beers“ on the periphery of parties, while socializing in bars, watching football or just getting together - after all, at The HEINEKEN Company we are guided by our company purpose to brew the joy of true togetherness. #Heineken #InternationalBeerDay #ForgottenBeers

  • Today, we feature our Financial Controller, Joe Kelleher's daily commute to work by bike! Joe's route takes him along the Tramore riverside greenway into Togher village. The Cork City Council - Comhairle Cathrach Chorcaí has done superb work on the active travel upgrades in the area, and the Togher Tidy Towns team has done a fantastic job planting native species to improve biodiversity and create a beautiful public space for the local community. Thanks to Joe for taking the time to take some great photos of his journey.   'I originally bought my bike through the Bike-to-Work scheme in 2011. In 2019, I started working full-time at MCI in Togher, a little over 13 km from home. During lock down, I worked from home and started cycling my son Sam to & from crèche, about a 9 km round-trip. When we returned to the office, I was eager to maintain the habit of a daily cycle.   MCI is a great place to work, and we are fortunate to have shower facilities onsite. Since June 2023, I have completed over 80 round-trip bike commutes, clocking up more than 2,270 km. According to Strava, that's over 495 kg of carbon saved! I encourage anyone considering cycling to work to give it a go! Although it requires a bit of extra planning, you will be surprised by how enjoyable it is and how quickly it becomes a part of your routine.' - Joe Kelleher, Financial Controller, Malting Company of Ireland. 🚵♂️
