In the U.S. and globally, there is a significant shortage of licensed mental health therapists due to insufficient funding, inadequate reimbursement rates, and low retention among professionals. This issue is compounded by a rising demand for mental health services, particularly since the COVID-19 pandemic, and an aging workforce retiring without enough younger professionals to replace them. Lua Health is dedicated to addressing this shortage by focusing on early identification of mental health issues through better utilization of wellbeing and Employee Assistance Program (EAP) benefits. By proactively identifying mental health concerns, Lua Health helps individuals seek support before reaching a crisis point, thereby reducing the burden on overextended therapists.
