Great piece in the Irish Independent this week on solar PV for farms from one of our valued customers, Angus Woods. Some key takeaways from the article: Paperwork: 'There is quite a bit of planning and paperwork involved in the [TAMS] application process. It is important to ensure that you can get a grid connection from the ESB. For my supplier, I went with Local Power Ltd, a company from Meath. They took care of all the paperwork from start to finish.' Energy cost savings and monitoring: 'Our panels went up on the shed roof in March, and having just received the second electricity bill since their arrival, the savings are substantial. Using an app on my phone, our electricity usage is now being monitored like never before. Any opportunity to use daytime solar-generated energy is being maximised, while the battery (which is available as part of the scheme) plays a large part in covering night-time usage.' Hedging against electricity price volatility: 'The coalition government have brought in various supports for all households, but the inclusion of a TAMS 3 Solar grant in the new CAP is by far the best opportunity for farmers to de-risk from a repeat of the inflated electricity prices that cost us all so much money.'
