Huge thanks to Dogpatch Labs for their support with the Patch Showcase! The atmosphere in the Urban Gardens was electric and the teams had a ball—they've captured it perfectly here.
Building the next generation of young tech entrepreneurs is a key part of what we do at Dogpatch. Patch is a perfect example of this. One week ago today, 36 young builders were gearing up for what was to be the largest Patch Showcase to date. From robot dogs, to biodiversity infringement, to an AI-generated escape room, the projects emerging from the Patch youth accelerator this summer knew no bounds. Six weeks of hacking and building, learning from founders who’s “been there done that” including CoderDojo’s James Whelton, FoodCloud’s Iseult Ward, Intercom’s Des Traynor, plus a host of more star-studded lineup. 11 Patchers pitched to an audience filled with the startup ecosystem’s finest, who packed Dogpatch’s Urban Garden to get a first glimpse at this next generation of entrepreneurs and builders. Missed the Showcase? Our blog tells the full story: https://lnkd.in/eeXeEUUd If you’re a young person bursting with entrepreneurial spirit, or know someone who fits the bill, tell them all about Patch Youth Accelerator: https://lnkd.in/e2vP3ZPy

The first two weeks of Patch have flown past in a whirlwind of team building, ideation, prototyping and early customer conversations. Thank you to all of the speakers and mentors who've taken time out of their schedules to work with the Patchers! Sharing a few takeaways and recurring recommendations for people who are new to the world of startups and social enterprises: - Mark Cummins says to "follow your curiosity" - Maria McMenamin warns against treating people like "customers" before you have a solid product. In those early days, you're really looking for potential design partners. - James Whelton reminded the group that you have to be prepared fail *a lot* if you want to succeed - Celine Halioua's advice is to forget your ego, work hard, and learn as much as you can - Almost everyone recommended reading 'Founders at Work' by Jessica Livingston (we'll be adding that one to the Patch library)

Hats off to Tim Farrelly, Omar Salem and David Deneher!
An idea born in Patch youth accelerator 2020, Field Of Vision Technologies has created a haptic response tablet for use in different sports by millions. The founder trio has since raised €250K investment, piloted with Premier League and Toyota, and secured partnerships with Bohemians FC and Telstra. Patch reposted this
Exciting times at #DogpatchLabs yesterday, as it was #Robowars fight night! Although Murphy's law made a strong presence with loads of last-minute chaos, changes and blunders with the robots, in true Patch spirit the teams rose to the occasion. 🛠️ It was a brilliant night, not only because of the thrilling battles between the bots but also because of the incredible spirit of unity and support among the teams. Everyone selflessly assisted each other without worrying about winning or losing. The day was filled with excitement, camaraderie and some smoke caused by burning electrical components during the fight! Meet our robot "Le'go", who survived some brutal attacks last night. 🤖🔧 Abutalha Alam Lucy Daly Aditya Joshi Will Donnelly Anita Blanchfield Ashling McCarthy
