Minister for Finance Jack Chambers this morning hosted a stakeholder event on the development of Ireland’s first National Financial Literacy Strategy in Páirc Uí Chaoimh, Cork. ▶ Financial literacy and education is an important part of financial consumer protection. ▶ It covers people’s awareness, behaviour, knowledge, attitudes and skills in relation to money and is an important skill for all. Today’s event brought together key stakeholders. Participants included the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, Central Bank of Ireland, the OECD - OCDE and the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada | Agence de la consommation en matière financière du Canada Approximately 91 public and private sector organisations including the financial services industry, education, civil society and Government Departments and agencies were also represented. ➡ Full details: https://lnkd.in/epca32qp

Minister of State for Finance with responsibility for Financial Services, Credit Unions and Insurance Neale Richmond TD has welcomed the rise in female representation in the financial services sector. The findings are contained in the second annual report on Ireland’s Women in Finance Charter, compiled by the ESRI in collaboration with financial services industry representative bodies. Launched in April 2022 under the Ireland for Finance strategy, the Women in Finance Charter is seeing real results among signed-up firms. Minister of State Neale Richmond TD today launched the second annual report on Ireland’s Women in Finance Charter at Dublin Castle. The Voluntary Charter seeks to improve female representation in financial services firms in Ireland. Launched two years ago, it now has 91 signatories, representing over 65,000 employees. Minister Richmond is pictured with the ESRI's Helen Russell and Garanche Hingre, and Fiona Gallagher, CEO of Wells Fargo Bank International, and Chair of Ireland's Women in Finance Steering Group. Today's ESRI report on the Charter signatories reveals that female representation has grown: ➡ Management level (37pc to 41pc) ➡ Executive Committee level (30pc to 34pc) ➡ CEO level (22pc to 26pc) ➡ Board level (35pc to 39pc).
